How iPad Mini 7 Will Release Without a 120Hz ProMotion Display

The initial reports from China suggested that the iPad Mini 7 will have an upgraded screen to a 120Hz refresh rate. However, a well-connected display industry analyst at Apple has already reacted to these reports and was very skeptical about them.

It is generally this type of LCD panel that is preferred for the most high-end products.

This isn’t the first time rumors of a 120Hz Promotion display on the iPad Mini have surfaced. The iPad Mini 6’s “scrolling” effect even led to a class-action lawsuit against the company. Last November, a leak showed that the Cupertino giant was testing Samsung’s 8.3-inch LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate to solve the above problem for the future iPad Mini series.

For the record, a Promotion screen allows you to take advantage of an adaptive refresh rate. Clearly, the refresh rate will adapt to what you are watching. The frequency will oscillate between 10 Hz and 120 Hz in order to reduce the energy consumption of the panel. This technology is also found on the iPhone 13 Pro / Pro Max and MacBook Pro.

Some other configuration information about this product is also revealed as follows: iPad Mini 7 is expected to still be equipped with an 8.3-inch screen.

There are many leakers who predict that the iPad Mini 7 will be released in the first half of 2022, but now that it is almost June, the news and launch information is still a mystery. Regarding the price, adding a 120Hz panel to the new iPad Mini could significantly increase its production cost.

The most significant upgrade of the iPad Mini 7 will be a 120Hz refresh rate display.

Although it has the name “mini”, the price of the iPad Mini in the iPad product line is not the cheapest. Furthermore, the configuration of the iPad is also not the most basic. The iPad Mini 6 released last year is pretty decent and many calls it as “A15 small steel cannon”. Due to its excellent performance and lightweight, it is now the choice for many iOS dual-gun or Android/iOS dual-machine users. Although the screen of the entire iPad product line is getting bigger, and the iPad Pro is even conspiring to 14.1 inches, the small iPad Mini will continue to upgrade. The next generation Mini iPad will be the iPad Mini 7.

Slightly frustrating, the iPad Mini 6 won’t launch this year, but not until next spring at the earliest.

Many companies with Low temperature poly crystalline displays are already using this technology. One of the advantages of this technology is that it will effectively reduce battery consumption. However, there will not be a significant increase in the price of the Apple iPad Mini 7. While many expected this device to arrive in the first half of 2022, this didn’t happen. We now look towards the first half of next year.

Another fact to note is how recently the iPad Mini was updated. The current model, the sixth-generation iPad Mini, was only released in fall 2021. It seems unlikely that Cupertino would be ready to refresh the iPad Mini so soon.
