How important is the father's role in raising the child to be confident?

Does the father have any role in making the child confident? Yes, mother's role is very important for child's growth but according to researchers, father's role is also very important in children's growth. Being a father is not just about providing financial security for the child. A father's companionship is much needed to make a child a happy and self-confident person. How should the father's role in this case?

Both parents are generally important in the development of a child. Usually, fathers handle the financial burden of the family in most cases, while mothers work to manage the house. However, researchers report that fathers who are directly involved with their children have happier and more confident children.

If you want to make your child confident, the father has to play an important role. However, the hope is that fathers are now directly contributing to raising children in the family. Many fathers take care of the baby, starting with feeding.

Days are changing, so everyone has to change with time. In family responsibilities, men have to actively participate in child care.

Here's how to treat a baby:

Talk to children. Even if you are a newborn, you should talk because the baby can understand your facial expressions.

Show love to the child. Many fathers love their children, but do not express it. Research says that it is very important to show love to the child, to caress, to use pleasant language, to touch, to hug.

Children should be listened to. You have to follow them by understanding what mood they are in.

Children's work should be appreciated. Suppose you ask him to bring something, the child brings it, praise him for his work, praise him, encourage him.

Help children stay focused on tasks.

Help learn social values, culture, norms. Spend quality time with kids. You will have a good time too.

The father should be the role model of the child. For example, if you brush at night and go to bed fresh, so will your child. The child follows the father. So if you want to develop a good habit like reading his books, you also have to read books, you have to be his role model.

Father's role in early child development:

A father's role in a child's early development is very important. A close connection with the father in the early days brings lifelong benefits for the child.

Why is father's involvement so important? How does baby develop? How will the expected parent-child relationship be created? I was talking about this with a friend of mine who is a new father and is happily trying to become a father with a newborn daughter. Not only providing toys, food, clothing, medical care, but also giving time to take care of the child. His desire to know and understand about this created in me a feeling of pleasure and pain at the same time; Because our preparation for raising children is not yet institutionalized. Except for a small part, both the opportunity and the urge to learn about child development are still limited.

The first eight years are called the early stage of child development. Care and growth during this time sets the course for her future health, learning, happiness, and even relationships. More specifically, seventy-five percent of the human brain is formed within 1000 days of birth. Connections between neurons in the brain occur at a rapid rate. Proper care, interaction with the child during this period determines how successfully he can utilize his potential later in life.

Studies have shown that children who receive the care and proximity of a father or a parent in their early days have a higher success rate later in life. As a result of developing a trusting relationship with both parents, children feel secure, they advance in education and work, they gain more ability in social and communication skills, self-confidence and self-control. Behavioral problems, adolescent risk behaviors, are less common among them. Even family life is able to create better relationships. It becomes easier for the father to become involved in the child's care if he understands how deep the impact of involvement with the father is on the child's life.

Father involvement refers to feeling responsible and behaving responsibly for the child, being emotionally and physically close to the child, ensuring material services, taking care of the child and making joint decisions about the child's upbringing.

Establishing close contact with the child is the first condition. Every child care task can be an opportunity to create a bond with him. While feeding or changing the baby, talk to him, imitate his sounds. Every caress, story-song-word continues to work on the formation of his brain. A very simple but important way is to play with the child because play is the child's learning medium. Just 15 minutes of play can connect thousands of neurons in a child's brain. The first step in the proper development of the child is to develop a trusting relationship with him, which is mainly developed in the child within six months of birth. So it is important for the father to be involved in the upbringing of the child right after birth.

Just as there are many dos and don'ts in baby care, there are also some dos and don'ts. Although the baby's crying is annoying, you can calm him down by feeding him, cleaning him or taking him in your arms, or if necessary, take help from others, but you need to be aware of harmful actions like holding him, shaking him or screaming. How you talk to the mother in front of the child will also affect the child.

A father might be thinking that I have to stay out all day, I don't have enough time to give to my child. In this case, it is important to remember that how much time you spend with your child is more important than how you spend that time. Also, a child may not have the presence of his birth father in his life. In that case, the involvement of a paternal figure will benefit the child.

The implementation of these seemingly simple tasks is not very easy until we can change our behavior and attitude. A large part of the population still feels that child care is the mother's responsibility, and while some fathers participate in nurturing, it remains largely in a supportive role. It is important not to support the wife in child-rearing, but to see herself in the full role of the father. Strong patriarchy will then come to the fore. Therefore, there is no alternative to changing the traditional social gender roles if you want to give your child a chance for a successful life. This requires a supportive policy framework. Institutional support for child-rearing such as parent training, paternity leave, home visiting services, child development centers, pre-primary education strategies etc. are very important. Country government's initiative in defining and implementing early childhood development policy is commendable, but I will not go into that discussion now.

I would like to talk a little about the global disaster that the corona pandemic has created because individuals and families will have to adapt to this new situation, probably for many more days, the first phase of which we are going through from homelessness. Although we have had the opportunity to spend time with family, this unplanned change has created stress on everyone resulting in a lack of normal child care, and more alarmingly, increased rates of violence against women and children. While this crisis may be long, it will eventually pass, but the scars of the harmful behavior will never allow the child to reach his full potential. So we have to decide whether we will succumb to this pressure or maintain a positive relationship with the child.
