About two months ago, I started my own blog and quickly realized how difficult it can be to get traffic to your site. You submitted your website to search engines and were eventually listed, but if your site appears on the 5th OT 10th results page for some search, this will not bring much traffic to your site.
Sounds familiar?
Well, bringing quality traffic to your site is not that difficult in the end. By putting a little effort into it I was able to earn 5 pagerank in just one month and that drives a lot of traffic to my blog. My site also showed up in the top ten google results for truly competing keywords and millions of complete results and I did it all in weeks!
To drive good traffic to your site, you need to pay attention to two things:
1) Have quality content on your site
2) Have quality links to your site (or even better if you can exchange links)
I can not help you too much with the content of your site, because it depends very much on your website, but I can give you tips on how to find good links to your site.
Linking is one of the most important aspects of the search engine optimization process. The number and quality of links to your site indicate how popular your website is and Google pagerank is actually calculated from the page links, which is why pagerank shows how important the page is. Pagerank formula is very simple, page A is a fixed amount of incoming links pointing to page A. And the number of single outbound links on page B is calculated by dividing the rank of page B by the number of outgoing links on page B.
Now let's look at where you can put links to your site.
1) Public forums - there are many public forums and forums online. Search for your favorite forums, join the conversation and leave your link under your signature. Remember to leave quality posts, if you just leave links you will be easily blocked.
2) RSS Feed - If you own a blog or have RSS feeds for sales on your site, there are a number of sites that will publish a link to your site or distribute your content for free.
3) Digg.com - High traffic website with links to articles. If you have a good article linked to Digg, it will drive you tons of traffic.
4) Article Exchange - If you are a good writer and have time to write, you can find hundreds of sites that will publish and distribute your article and they will all link back to your site.
5) Link to exchange - If you find good websites related to yours you can ask the webmaster if he would like to exchange links.
6) Have a blog to promote your site - blogs are so popular today that even large business websites start their own blogs. A blog can be a really powerful tool for marketing your site. It can attract thousands of new, targeted visitors to your site for free and can help you rank # 1 in search engines, and drive the most targeted traffic trucks on your site.
And remember, always look for quality and try to put links in pages that have high pages.
