HOW HITTING A SIX WAS BANNED AFTER YUVRAJ SINGH'S FIRST CENTURY?

Six consecutive sixes in an over... More than 300 runs and 15 wickets in a single World Cup... Sixer King's title.

Yuvraj, who has played 40 Tests and 304 ODIs, is considered the 2011 World Cup victory hero.

Yuvraj has also adjudged the Man of the Tournament for his excellent performance in this tournament.

Yuvraj, who has scored 17 centuries in international cricket, did not like cricket at all in childhood, and skating was his first love.

Father Jograj wanted to make Yuvi a cricketer, and for this, he had to reprimand Yuvraj a lot.

In his autobiography 'The Test of My Life,' Yuvraj recounts, "When I was 11 years old, I won the gold medal in the speed skating event in the Under-14 state tournament. That evening my father was furious. He asked me to win the medal, snatched it, and said, stop playing this girl's game and threw the medal away."

TEST OF YUVRAJ

To test Yuvraj's cricketing talent, his father Jograj took him to Patiala, where he had to show his cricketing skills in front of Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Yuvraj writes, "When Sidhu evaluated me at Maharani Club Patiala, I was not completely comfortable. I used to play my shots the kind of kid I was, but I didn't understand where my leg stump was. At the age of 13, he was like a 13-year-old kid, not like a 13-year-old Sachin Tendulkar."

Sidhu dismissed Yuvraj, and thus Yuvraj returned from Patiala back to Chandigarh. Father Jograj wanted Yuvraj to be a fast bowler and all-rounder; Yuvraj was put in a summer camp in 1993 at Bishan Singh Bedi's Delhi-based academy.

In his autobiography, Yuvraj writes, "Delhi was in bad shape in the summer. It was good that he moved the camp to Chail in Himachal Pradesh the next year. I was sent as a rising fast bowler after Bishan Singh Bedi. I was taller and stronger than the boys of my age. I used to try to bowl fast and bat at number eight.

Yuvraj writes, "When Bedi saw me bowling, he shouted out loud - what are you doing. He knew at first glance that my idea of becoming a fast bowler was wrong. - You cannot be a seamer. Go Batting. I don't think they will have any idea then that one day I will be an economical left-arm bowler."

Yuvraj has taken 111 wickets in 304 ODIs, and his best is 5 wickets for 31 runs.

HITTING A SIX GOT BANNED

Chail in Himachal Pradesh is the highest cricket ground in the world. It is situated at an altitude of 2,444 meters above sea level and on top of a hill.

In Bishan Singh Bedi's camp, Yuvraj scored the first century of his life, and only then did he realize the joy of reaching the top in cricket. What became Yuvraj's century, Bishan Singh Bedi was forced to make a new rule for the batsman.

Yuvraj writes, "After completing 100 runs, I hit two sixes, and Paaji implemented a new rule in the camp. He said that from now on, hitting a six will mean out. Because in Chail if you hit the ball out of the field, So the ball used to reach thousands of feet below in the valley and then the cost of this ball was around Rs 300."

Yuvraj got the award for the best performance in junior cricket, and in 1997, he was selected to play the first first-class match for Punjab.

He was landing for the first time in the Ranji Super League and in this match played in Mohali, the team of Odisha was in front. Yuvraj was sent to the field to open the innings.

Yuvraj writes in his autobiography, "My score in this match was zero as an opener, and I also dropped a catch. After that, I was labeled as a bad fielder."

This was why Yuvraj Singh had to wait a long two years to return to the Ranji team after this.
