How Fintech Slice joins UPI race to challenge PhonePe and GooglePay

Slice is adding the popular road UPI to its eponymous app as the Indian fintech looks to broaden its immolation and pushes to come a one-stop payments app for consumers in the world’s second-largest internet request.

The Bengaluru-headquartered incipience, which came a unicorn late last time, said it's rolling out UPI point to all it being druggies as well over 10 million of those who have been on its waitlist.

Slice offers Guests credit card-suchlike features, and through its app gives them access to a range of deals with popular merchandisers. The UPI point is the rearmost addition for the Slice app, which is aiming to drive engagement as it gives druggies more reasons to interact with the incipience immolation.

Rajan Bajaj, author and principal superintendent of Slice, said in an interview that by using UPI, the payments app is opening the app to every smartphone stoner in the country.

UPI druggies on Slice will be suitable to produce unique IDs that will allow them to search for their musketeers by their names rather of their phone figures, as it is popular on other UPI-supported apps. These unique IDs are powered by Andy, a web3 design that Slice has been working on since last time.

“While erecting our UPI product, we assured that we removed all the disunion — there's no announcement, there's no cross-selling, and there are no 100 CTAs. The question we keep asking ourselves is‘how can the stoner do this in one alternate or indeed lower time?’ And we wanted to make this be, now,” he said.

TechCrunch reported in late March that Slice was working on launching support for UPI and was revamping the app.

With UPI support, Slice is entering a crowded request. Google’s Gpay and Flipkart-backed PhonePe presently lead the UPI map with over 80 of the request share. Scores of other players including Paytm and Tata Neu also offer support for UPI payments.

UPI, a five- time-old payments protocol erected by a coalition of retail banks, is the most popular way Indians distribute plutocrat online. In the month of April, the UPI network reused over5.5 billion deals, over from7.2 million during the same period four times agone.

The payments network, which is supported by over 300 banks, allows druggies on one app to shoot plutocrat to any other stoner on any other UPI app.

“ The payments network in India is veritably open with interoperability,” said Bajaj. “ I believe that a product with the stylish consumer experience will ultimately win people’s hearts. The significant growth which we've seen in the last many times on our slice super card proves that we've really struck a passion culturally with our consumers, and they would love to use us for all their payment needs.”

Slice, which is backed by Insight Mates and Tiger Global, said it aims to turn its credit business profitable in the coming months. “ As Slice turns profitable in the core product, the company will decreasingly be using the free cash overflows from there to increase the compass of what Slice daises for its consumers,” it said.
