How Feel Those Feelings And Develop Emotional Intelligence

There's an old joke about a man who is walking home across the street in the early hours of the weekend he sees another man, who is clearly very drunk, on his hands and knees, searching for something. Used to be. "What are you looking for?" He asks the drunk man. "The keys to my house," the man replies. "Where did you leave them?" he asks. "Two roads away" he slurs. "Then why aren't you looking there", he asks, puzzled. "Because the light here is so much better."

Now, during my initial training and learning, I was quite unsure of myself in many ways! Yes, me too, some might say I've gone in a completely different direction now! I tried a lot of things with different aspects of self-hypnosis and standard NLP approaches to overcome this uncertainty and lack of confidence in my ability to do what I wanted to do, but none of them worked for me. Was not working. I still got butterflies in my stomach and lacked a real sense of confidence, I felt nervous about actually doing what I wanted to do (what if it all went wrong I failed!!) Had spent some time fighting the anxious feeling, then one day I said to myself "Adam, just feel it, stop resisting it, stop fighting it; just feel it" and an amazing thing happened. I felt panic. It happened, then it disappeared! I was shocked. All the last months and years of fighting it, and all I had to do was to really feel it. I accepted it and stopped resisting.

Doing so is meant to increase your awareness of your map of the world.

One of the precepts of NLP is 'meet people on their world map'. It is a process of seeing things from their point of view or becoming aware of their experience, and that is a very in-depth discussion for another time. Now, I was fine doing this with other people and my successful medical counseling over the years has been solid proof of this for me, but all those years before what started, I suddenly realized that I was not getting on with myself. It was on my world map. Whenever I felt feelings I didn't like, I would fight, resist and fight them, and you know what they say: When you fight with yourself, someone always loses, And someone else is you. So I decided to stop fighting and resisting my feelings and start accepting and working with them.

Where am I going with all this? If it feels like something you find unpleasant, it feels unappealing you simply don't like, first, map out the emotion. It is simply a process of identifying where that feeling is in your body, to really find that feeling in your body. Now think about what size it is, how it moves; I felt a flutter in the pit of my stomach that as I resisted it would spread across my chest and come down again. Be aware of what it actually feels like physically, even think about what temperature it is, you can even take it a step further and imagine what it would be like if it were one There was color.

While most people claim to know what they are feeling, you would be amazed at how many people are not even a little familiar with the physical characteristics of the feelings they are experiencing, they are actually aware. Without letting them happen passively. Then emotions are physical (they are chemicals and all kinds of other things too), so the first step is to map that physicality.

Next, acknowledge the feeling. Be okay with the fact that you are feeling it. To learn more about how to accept the things in your life, re-dig the article from a previous edition of "Adam's Up," which was all about that, is in the archive on my website.

Of course, this can be a bit of a struggle for some people, who will undoubtedly say "but I don't want to feel it" or "I shouldn't feel it." I know some of you are thinking so.

So here's the thing: You're feeling it, and if you want to change feelings quickly, the most expedient way to do so is to get yourself on your map of the world and accept the current feeling you're in. are doing. If you refuse to do so, you are opposing it or fighting it, like I was doing then. Then any attempt to replace it will involve starting over where you don't belong, and that rarely works well, as our suggestion person looking for their keys on the wrong road can attest to.

Then, you find positive intent. What is your body or your unconscious trying to tell you? Sometimes emotions carry some kind of message for us. Sometimes, they are just sensations that our bodies have a purpose for feeling. What (if anything) is this feeling doing for you or trying to tell you?

Then; feel it. Just feel it. Make sure not to fight or fight, just feel it. Remember to breathe too ;-)

You don't have to do it for long, but it's really good to feel something. Even if it feels bad, the fact that you can feel it means you're alive (woo-hoo!) These are both good things to be accepted and felt within yourself. Should be able to. Often, to accept and feel an emotion is to put it in a vastly different perspective.

The final part of this process is then to play with the emotion.

Increase the intensity of the feeling. Turn it down. If it was one color, make it another, if it was moving in a certain direction, move it to another, if it was a certain size, make it bigger or smaller, basically, a play with it do it and find out how much this feeling has affected you. I think you'll be surprised when you find out just how much influence you really have.

One of the things that you might notice as you begin to experience it is how likely it is to regain control of your emotions. You can know very well for yourself that feelings are not true or false. They don't really mean anything. They are just sensations that you are experiencing in your body. If you resist them, they will be there for a while, but if you accept them
