Pola festival takes place in the rainy season, at this time more work is done in agriculture, with the help of bulls, farmers plow in agriculture and farming is prepared to put crops in agriculture. The specialty of this festival is that on this day, those who make the biggest contribution to farming, that is, the bull, are worshiped.
This festival is for three days, on these days the children have a school holiday, on the first day nothing much happens, all the farmers stay in the home. On the second day, all the farmers who are the pets of their house, such as bull, cow, buffalo, are bathed, decorated, and massage their shoulders are with steam because the farmers say that those animals get tired after working throughout the year. Even if they do not get it, they cannot express their pain to anyone, so they are given rest for three days of this festival. At this festival, all the far and with their oxen, gather at one place in the village to praise and worship them. All the elders of the house fast, and in the evening after the worship of the pair of bullocks in the house, house women give them food, they eat food, the farmer who brings a pair of bullocks at the time of worship and then the feet of the bullocks are washed. After this, after doing their aarti,
they are given homemade dishes and delicious food. The women of the house do all this worship; after having their food, food is given to the people of the house. On this day, different dishes are prepared in the house; for example, one suji is made by mixing five types of vegetables. And in sweet, Puran Poli is made, which is made by cooked gram lentils in sugar and grinding them and made their rotis. On the third day, small children wear new clothes and go from house to house with small bullocks made of wood; they are also worshiped in the same way, and money is given to the children. In many places, it is a competition of bullocks made from wood; in that competition, they are given numbers after seeing their decoration.
This tradition has been going on in Maharashtra for many centuries. All the farmers in Maharashtra celebrate this festival with great pomp.
