How faith in GOD changed my life once I began to seek to understand it

Faith is a state of mind, a way of life, an unshakeable and absolute belief in the power and the goodness of God. Faith is a place where in the midst of chaos, heartache and disappointment, you stand firm while things are falling apart all around you. It’s when you realise you have Jesus in the boat while the storm is raging.

We are always told to have faith and to trust God. In certain situations, that is easier said than done. We sometimes think things will be easier if we take it into our own hands. Nobody ever said having faith would be easy, but it will be worth it and here is why.

1. He Knows Better Than We Do

God knows everything we are going through at this very moment and everything we will go through in the future. He knows the best way to handle every situation so we get the best possible outcome and we need to trust him with that. We need to follow his path and trust that he knows best, because he does.

“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” – James 1:6

2. All Things Are Possible With God

He knows the desires of your heart. If you trust in him with the things that you want most, he will take care of it. He knows what is best for your life. If you feel like your goals are hard to achieve or even impossible, think again. Anything is possible with God. He has your back and will help you through anything, all you have to do is have faith.

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” – Mark 9:23

3. He Is Worthy Of Our Trust

Having faith is having trust. You have to trust with your entire being that God has your back that he will help you and take care of you. He knows what is best, but to truly embrace what he has planned for you, you have to fully trust. Our trust is not foolish, for our God is both faithful and good. Dig into Scripture. Acquaint yourself with the promises of God, with his longsuffering faithfulness to the Israelites, to Abraham, to us all. Get to know the character of God and your joy and willingness to trust in Him will abound.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” – Proverbs 3:5-6

4. He Knows What He Is Doing

God knows exactly what he wants for your life. He has a purpose for you and has everything planned out. He knows who you are going to marry, how many kids you are going to have, what job you will have and every other detail of your life, both big and small. He knows what you are going to do tomorrow, next month and years down the road. Do not doubt his plan, because he knows all and he has a perfect plan.

Faith is the most powerful weapon with which you can conquer and attain anything you put your mind to. That which seems impossible becomes possible through faith, and that which has been in the dark will be revealed in the light. It’s only after you’ve faced your deepest fears, your most painful memories, embrace your broken heart and gone through the most unimaginable despair, that faith turn up.

Faith removes condemnation and judgement completely and leaves you with a deep rooted unshakeable belief that God is alive and He will answer your prayers. By then you’ve tried everything else and nothing worked.

Faith is a deeply personal journey, starting with gratitude for everything that’s good in your life. It does not come easy. In the beginning, it’s one of the most difficult things to trust and praise God when everything in your life sucks, and I mean everything. It’s not about preaching but it will manifest itself in your way of life. Faith gives you the courage to celebrate your life even when it seems you have nothing to celebrate at all.

It’s only after you’ve faced utter hopelessness, complete despair and a total sense of loss that you learn about faith. When you feel so broken, so lost and abandoned, your life is shattered all around you, and your heart’s broken in countless pieces, faith starts showing up. When it seems as if every door has been closed, all is lost and you have absolutely no where to turn, that you begin to understand what it means to trust God completely. Not that you want to, but because you have to.

You will at times feel bitter, resentful and deeply angry towards God but it won’t swallow you. You will resist God’s healing power, and refuse to hear anything about Him. And you will wonder where is this God and why is He not answering your prayers. But faith is what pulls you through because with faith comes the knowledge and awareness of His love.

Faith does not happen overnight and you will never attain it if you want someone else to give it to you. You have to find it yourself, constantly asking, knocking, seeking. You must hungry and determined to find the answers and you need a willing heart. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. Seek Him and you will find faith. Spend time with Him and amazing things will happen. God’s light will shine in your heart, your mind and in your life in a way that you never imagined possible.
