The European Union Parliament has made it mandatory for all mobile phones, tablets, and cameras can charge via a USB connection (Type C).
For years, there have been public complaints in Europe that they’ve been compulsory to buy multiple chargers for different digital smartphones & devices, which not only increases costs but also increases electronic waste.
After months of debate, the joint parliament of 27 European countries (EU) has unanimously approved a Law under which charging standards for all smart & digital devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and cameras, will be the same as all products. The chargers must be of USB-C (Type C) type. According to the European Union Parliament, the new law will apply from 1st January 2024. The execution of this law will save EU citizens a total of 250 million euros per year.
Experts say that after the acceptance of the new law in the European Parliament, companies like Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and Amazon will have to change the charging of their products.
USB stands for?
Universal Serial Bus is called a USB. Engineers chose this name because they believe It will eventually displace other connectors as the standard connector.
