How to earn respect from others?
After the 9/11 terrorist attacks in America, an FBI officer was interrogating a bodyguard of Osama bin Laden, but this bodyguard of Osama hated Americans very much. So he was not being corporate at all in the interrogation, rather he was speaking ill of America and not answering any questions. The FBI officer noticed that he had not tasted any of the tea and biscuits given to him. After some time, the officer came to know that the tea and biscuits contained sugar and that the terrorist was a diabetic patient. Then the next morning, the officer offered tea and biscuits without sugar to the terrorist.
With this simple action, the man's anger cooled down, and he started behaving properly with them. Here the rule of human behavior was applied. When the officer treated him with kindness and respect, the man also treated him with kindness and respect. Gave respect and did corporate with them.
Actually, everyone wants people to respect them, its simple rule is, if you respect people then people will also respect you. But what to do if people still do not respect? Therefore, we are going to tell you five such rules by learning which you can make people respect you.
So let's start without any delay-
1) Say with your words, prove with your action –
Once in an interview, Ratan Tata ji was asked why he does not appear in the list of the world's top richest people like Ambani, then Tata ji replied with great seriousness that Ambani is a businessman, and we are industrialists. The job is to make this world a better society and not just to fill our pockets.
Ratan Tata ji's actions are responsible behind the words he shared. Tata & Son's has provided employment to four and a half lakh people across the world and donated Rs 1500 crore during the global pandemic.
That is why he is highly respected all over the world because what he says is visible through his actions.
In today's time, most of the people talk big, but their actions are negligible. Due to which their family, friends, partners do not respect them. Therefore, our words and actions should match each other and people definitely respect you due to this quality of yours.
2) Don't apologize when you don't have to –
Admitting your mistake and apologizing to someone makes you a better person, but if you apologize every time even without any mistake then it shows you as a weak person who makes, mistakes again and again and learns something from your mistake. Neither is there.
Apologizing every time does not make the other person respect you, because he does not value your apology, hence never apologize for these three things –
# where it's not your fault
# where you have no control
# Those things which are part of your personality which you cannot change because they make you unique.
3) Make Yourself a Priority-
Always keep yourself the first priority. You are not always available to people. You become someone who is difficult to contact and make connections with.
Ignore most people and focus only on their life.
According to the supply and demand rule of the economy, when the supply of your people is less, your demand increases. And people are attracted to this because in today's time, only those who are different from others are respected, and see themselves as the first priority. This does not mean that you should become selfish because selfish people think only about themselves, whereas you have to give first priority to yourself while thinking about everyone.
Because selfish people think only about themselves, whereas you have to think about everyone, but give first priority to yourself.
4) Ask More Questions and Listen Well –
You must have come across people who when you share something with them, they say "Yes, I already knew that." Without listening to you, they show how they know more than you. Psychologically, no one likes that person who shows that he knows everything and that he is always in trouble with the other person.
You may have a lot of knowledge about something, but don't assume that the person in front of you doesn't know anything. Rather, listen to his words and respect his ideas. When you show that you are learning something from them, listening to them, then they respect your attitude.
5) Treat other people the way they want to be treated –
Where it often goes – "Treat others the way we want to be treated"
There is an even better approach than this –
"Treat others the way they want to be treated, rather than the way you want to be treated"
That is, treat people the way they want, not just the way you want. This rule is also called the platinum rule in psychology. According to which, when you are talking to someone, focus on what they want. It is not necessary that you give what you want. Rather, understand the other person's point of view and create a win-win situation as per your need in which both are benefited.
Someone has asked you for mutual help of Rs 10,000. You are not capable of helping that much. So you can tell him that I cannot do this much, but I will definitely do as much as I can. This will show that you are genuine, that you care about them, and showing that you care about them increases your respect in the eyes of people.
