How does free education develop a nation?

Meaning of Education:

The word education is derived from the Sanskrit root Shiksha which means to learn and to teach.  In English, the word 'Education' is derived from the Latin word 'Educare (to grow or develop). Education means bringing inner and outer. Some scholars believe that the word education is derived from Educate, which means to test. Education is a lifelong process from birth to death. According to Froebel, “Education includes knowledge, proper conduct and technical proficiency, teaching and learning, etc.” According to Herbert Spencer, "The meaning of education is to coordinate the inner powers with the outer life."Education is a powerful means of economic and social development of the nation. Education is the key to national prosperity and national welfare.

 

Types of Education: 

From the point of view of the system, there are two types of education.  Formal education runs in schools, universities, colleges with fixed curriculum and teaching methods. School education plays a great role in everyone's life. Informal education is unplanned,  without a certain curriculum and places of learning. The first education of the child starts at home in the informal environment. The person's language conduct guidelines, interest trends, etc., are based on this education. In this, according to the learner's convenience, the teaching process, place, and time are decided. Adult education, distance and open education, education for working women, etc., are different forms.

 

The necessity of Free Education:

Poverty is the biggest problem of education. Due to poverty, people cannot give good education to their children; they are not able to send them abroad for their good studies. Gradually, now higher education has become so expensive that it is becoming tough for the children of even middle-class families to study, so what about the poor children be able to do in such a situation. But, it is everyone's right to get an education. But now it has become law too. This means that it is now mandatory for parents to educate their children.

 

Advantages of Free Education:

Free education is education by government spending or charitable trusts. Poor children cannot fulfill their dreams these days of free education. Free education can only give them new hope and direction in life.  Free education develops confidence. It helps in building the personality of every child from both poor and middle-class families. Proper education creates many paths to move ahead in the future. Without education, they cannot do any work well in any area of life. Without education, they cannot achieve anything. Nowadays it is the need of everyone to earn a living, for which it is essential to make all children educated. Employment opportunities are created through education and helpful in the financial position of these low-income groups. Likewise, economic equality can be achieved.

 

Progress of Nation Through Free Education:

Education is equally important for both men and women and both rich and poor because all together makes a healthy and educated society. Free education helps to remove all the differences in society. There is only one way to realize all the dreams, both of individual and the nation, that's good education. No one nation becomes powerful without education and the power of knowledge. Educated citizens are the true asset of the nation. The strength of education and knowledge leads the nation towards progress. Gone are when battles were fought with swords and guns; now, only big battles can be won with the power and strength of education and knowledge.

 

Right to Education: 

The Right to Education is an Act of The right to education also includes providing basic education to persons who have not completed primary education. Article 13 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights ensures the right to free education at primary education and progressive introduction at secondary and higher education as the right to education. Different kinds of scholarships are also being given to children doing good studies to go abroad to get a good education free of cost.  So many nations have passed legislation and made universal free education at the primary level. 

 

Conclusion: 

So free education guarantees equitable access to education. Everyone will be in reach of education. The economic or financial condition won't stop learning and developing skills. So all children develop a positive outlook on life, and that would be helpful in the development of the state or nation as a whole.
