How Do You Define Health?

The term health refers to a state of complete emotional and physical health. Good health includes maintaining a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of disease. Wellness integrates mental health (mind) and physical health (body) to provide a more holistic approach to disease prevention and health promotion:

Health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being, free from disease and sickness. The current definition of health established by the World Health Organization in 1948 describes health as : ,the state of complete physical, mental and social health, not just the absence of disease or infirmity. He goes beyond the negative definition of health as the absence of disease, by:  , spiritual:, and social domains are included.

Just as there has been a shift from treating illness as a condition to thinking of it as a process, so too has the definition of health changed. Changes include rethinking health on: a continuum rather than a static state, and adding existential health to physical, mental and social well-being. Disease patterns have changed due to public health measures such as improved nutrition, hygiene and sanitation, as well as more effective public health interventions.

As we write in the August issue of the American Journal of Public Health, we believe that the definition of health should include adapting to changing health needs throughout life and optimally managing disease as a means of physical, mental and social well-being: Managing multiple diseases, optimizing function, optimizing treatment regimens, prioritizing various health risks and outcomes, and preparing for end-of-life considerations are some of the areas that deserve to be included in core definitions of health. WHO has developed several systems for classifying diseases and describing aspects of health, disability, functioning and quality of life.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with a number of World Health Organization partners, support this definition. The definition allows a platform for industry, medical technology and professionals to redefine our state of health. It does not allow a person to determine their own health and health goals.

If health is defined as the absence of disease, then the medical profession can declare a person healthy. A simpler definition of health - equating to the absence of disease - would lead to a definition of health promotion as an effort to eliminate disease and reduce the number of people suffering from it. The involvement of functioning in the definition of health would be reflected in the definition of health promotion as a process by which people's ability to cope with problems would be increased and strengthened, for example through regular and compulsory physical exercise.

Secondly, health is a state that allows a person to adequately cope with all the requirements of daily life (which also implies the absence of diseases and disorders). The third definition states that health is a state of balance, a balance that a person has established within himself and between himself and his social and physical environment.

Human health, the degree to which a person maintains the physical, emotional, mental and social capacity to cope with the environment. The World Health Organization describes mental health as "a state of well-being in which a person is aware of one's abilities, able to cope with the normal stresses of life, able to work productively, and able to make a difference for one's community". contribute

According to the World Health Organization, the main determinants of health include socioeconomic environment, physical environment, and individual characteristics and behaviors of people. Mental health is more difficult to define than physical health, as many psychological diagnoses depend on a person's perception of their own experiences. In the face of confusion over the definition of health, it can be very helpful to define health, good or bad, in terms that can be measured and explained in relation to a person's ability to function normally when measured. About the possibility of imminent illness.

By understanding what "health" means to you and your family, you can gain a clearer picture of what you need to do to achieve your "health". For families with very young children, it is especially important to consider how the health of the developing child will be determined.

The maintenance and promotion of health is achieved through various combinations of physical, mental and social well-being, sometimes referred to as the "health triangle". Wellness is a resource for everyday life, not a goal of life; wellness is a positive concept that emphasizes social and personal resources and physical abilities:, From this perspective, positive mental health is a resource that mainly includes the mental assets and skills needed for well-being. 24,25:  , But the latter usually does not include the physical component of well-being.

Thus, positive mental health, well-being and prosperity refers to having a high level of positive functioning, primarily in the area of mental health (including social health). There is no consensus on a single definition of happiness, but it is generally agreed that happiness includes at least the presence of positive emotions and emotions (EG, satisfaction, well-being), the absence of negative emotions (EG, depression, anxiety), life satisfaction, positive satisfaction, and functioning: . 4, 33-35 Simply put, happiness can be described as a positive view of life and happiness. 36, 37 For public health purposes, physical fitness (EG, feeling very healthy and energetic) is also considered critical to overall well-being:

Given the rise in chronic diseases, the WHO definition of health no longer meets the criteria. Defining health as "whole" without disease, as someone with chronic disease and managing them in new ways leaves little room.

Public health departments are working to monitor outbreaks, prevent injuries, and explain why some of us are more susceptible to disease than others. Public health saves money, improves our quality of life, helps children develop and reduces human suffering.
