Let us learn the mechanism of respiration. Normally we inhale air through our nostrils (nasal-door). When we inhale air through inhalation, it goes through our nostrils into the nasal cavity. Air from the nasal cavity goes through the windpipe to our lungs (pleura). The thoracic cavity of the lungs is surrounded by the ribs. A large muscular layer, which is called the diaphragm, provides the basis of the thoracic cavity. Respiration involves the movement of the diaphragm and cage made of ribs.

 During inhalation, the ribs move up and out, and the diaphragm moves down. This movement increases the volume of our thoracic cavity, and the air enters the lungs. Lungs fill with air. The ribs move down and inwards during exhalation, while the diaphragm moves up to its former position. This reduces the volume of the thoracic cavity. Due to this, the air is pushed out of the lungs.

Improved regular breathing exercises (Pranayama) increase the ability of our lungs to inhale air. In this way, more oxygen is supplied to the cells of our body, due to which more energy is produced.

 

 The air around us contains many types of unwanted particles like smoke, dust, pollen, etc. When we inhale, these particles get trapped in the hairs present in our nasal cavity. However, sometimes such taxes go beyond the nasal cavity, then they stimulate the soft lining of the cavity, which results in choking. Sneezing expels unwanted particles along with the air. In this way, only clean air can enter our bodies.

When there is an insufficient supply of oxygen to our muscle cells during excessive exercise, the breakdown of food occurs by anaerobic respiration.

Inhalation is a step in the respiratory process, in which the organism inhales oxygen-rich air into the body and expels carbon dioxide-rich air. Respiratory organs are different in different organisms for the exchange of gases.

Be careful:- When you sneeze, cover your nose so that the particles you exhale are not inhaled by other people.

 

 

How much air can a person fill in his lungs?

Take a wide-mouthed plastic bottle. Cut off its bottom and separate it. Take a Y-shaped glass or plastic tube. Make a hole in the cap of the bottle so that the tube can easily come out. Put two balloons (without inflating) on ​​the branched end of the tube. Put the tube in the bottle. Now put the cap of the bottle and seal it in such a way that it becomes airtight. Tie a thin sheet of rubber or plastic on the open bottom of the bottle and tie it with the help of a rubber band. To understand the expansion in the lungs, hold the rubber layer and pull it down from the base and watch the balloons. After this, push the rubber layer upwards and look at the balloons. Do you see any change in the balloons?

 

 

 

Oxygen is essential for us, but for organisms that do not use it, oxygen is toxic. In fact, respiration in pure oxygen for long periods of time can be harmful to humans and other organisms.
