If you're lucky enough to have a cherry tree in your yard, I'm sure I don't need to tell you how much joy can come from them. Eating the delicious cherries from your tree is a rewarding experience in itself. It's also rewarding to look out your back window and see a magnificent, magnificent cherry tree. Most people are simply struck by the fact that you have a cherry tree, as they are commonly treated by non-gardeners as some kind of exotic plant.
But the cherry tree brings many troubles along with happiness. They seem to attract more unwanted organisms than any other plant in the world. Almost every day, it seems like a new kind of pest is hitting the tree, trying to gnaw on its delicious fruits. I can't say I blame them, but they should grow their own trees if they want to eat the delicious fruit.
One of the main and most persistent problems that most people deal with is birds eating fruit from trees. Getting rid of this pest can seem almost impossible. After all, they can come from any angle and make a quick getaway with Cherry. Or they may sit unrecognized in branches and chew all day. A bird certainly has its versatility. Catching or repelling those little ones can be a real hassle. However, there are several ways in which you can drive away birds from your home.
The most commonly used method to drive away birds is to place plastic owls around the house. If you find an animal that usually eats birds and buy a plastic version, the real bird will usually be comfortable enough to avoid it. These might include snakes, owls, hawks, or scarecrows (okay, maybe they don't normally eat birds. But they scare birds away for some reason). Most of the time you can buy these at your local gardening store. If you want a different version or a more lifelike representation, if you look online you will definitely find something that will work.
If you find some kind of plastic animal, this will usually fix the bird's problem for a while. However, some birds are actually very brave (or really ******) and will continue to eat from your tree. Almost any reflective surface or noisy object will prevent birds from getting too close. I personally like to use reflective tape designed to scare away birds. You can buy it from any gardening store. I usually use it in conjunction with a large assortment of wind chimes for maximum intimidation. Once you have a plastic animal with reflective objects and noisy objects, almost all birds are so scared they can't even get close.
While airborne creatures can carry little more than their share of fruit, you should still consider leaving a tree specifically for them. While they may seem like a pest at times, birds can be something that bring your garden to life. If you're used to having birds and then suddenly you've scared them all away, you might feel like something is missing from your yard. Something that, on the inside, you have always truly loved.
