How Coffee Maker Cleaning

Your coffee maker can kill you. Well if your morning cup of coffee is a matter of life and death and you have a dirty coffee maker. When was the last time you cleaned your coffee maker? It is important to wash the dishes, but cleaning the coffee maker's interior is a task that should not be skipped. Did you also know that you were going to clean it? A clean coffee maker can be the difference between a good cup of coffee and a dirty cup of mud.

A clear coffee maker can really make a big difference in the taste of your coffee. Coffee oil can accumulate inside your coffee maker. Mineral deposits can also form, especially in areas with hard water. These deposits are called "scales". There are two types of scale, lime scale and mineral scale and you don't want either. The scale can affect your coffee maker's heating unit and water flow and reduce its efficiency. The quality of the drinking water depends on how fast the scale is formed. If you use bottled water to make your own coffee, the scale may not form as fast, but you still have to worry about accumulating enough oil. It's best to play it safe and clean your coffee maker regularly.

Cleaning your coffee maker is not a difficult task and in fact it is as easy as making coffee. All you have to do is pour half a cup of vinegar and half of the water into the coffee maker's water tank. It goes without saying that white vinegar should be used. Avoid red wine or apple cider vinegar varieties. Then just turn on the regular mix cycle. Your kitchen may smell of salad while it is cooking which you may like. If you're not a fan of salads, just remember that it's a small price to pay for a good cup of coffee.

Now rinse the coffee maker in the water tank this time using only water and running the brew cycle again. If you still smell vinegar, you may need to do it again.

Another easy way to keep a coffee maker clean is to put glass marble in the water chamber. All the mineral deposits that normally accumulate inside the coffee maker will accumulate on the marble instead. Just remove the marble every once in a while, wash it and then put it back in the chamber. How easy can that be?

The best solution is to clean your coffee maker monthly with vinegar and use the marble method. Change the marble once a week and you will be in the best shape as a coffee maker.

If you have an old coffee maker and you are not happy with the taste of the mixture, why not try to clean it. A clean coffee maker will make a better tasting coffee.

Making coffee is one of the easiest things in the world, and yet people are forever finding more and more complicated ways to do it. We live in an advanced coffee culture, where coffee is the most popular drink on the planet, and people get used to things like cappuccinos and lattes.
