Cloud Connect for Benefits is Workday's catalog of end-to-end benefits integrations that support a specific named third party. Through the use of vendor specific CCB integration system templates,
Workday provides the integration system services, attributes and maps necessary for implementing an integration between Workday and numerous benefit providers. This course will cover the methodology for implementing CCB integration, explain the details of EDI 834 files, and review the configuration of CCB integration systems.
Through hands-on activities and demonstrations, this course will guide the student through the process of creating and configuring new CCB integrations of various types.
WORKDAY INTEGRATION CLOUD CONNECT
Workday Integration Cloud Connect is a catalog of pre-built integrations to common applications and service providers that extend Workday's functionality.
The integrations span the entire range of Workday applications, including Human Capital Management (HCM), Benefits, Payroll, Payroll Interface, Financial Management, and Spend Management. All integrations are hosted and maintained by Workday.
The focus of this course is on Cloud Connect for Benefits, part of the Workday Integration Cloud Connect suite.
INTEGRATION TEMPLATES
A template is a commonly used term to refer to any particular pre-built Cloud Connect integration from the Workday catalog. Designed to connect with a range of third-party endpoints, integration templates are the starting point for the Cloud Connect for Benefits (CCB) integration.
An example of a Benefits template is the Aetna: Medical, Dental, Vision template, which is designed specifically to connect employee data in the Workday system with the Aetna network. There are many such templates available for benefits.
Being familiar with the templates available and recommending the correct template for your integration is an important part of the integration project and the consultant role.
INTEGRATION TEMPLATE CATEGORIES
Integration Cloud Connect Templates are grouped and provided in Integration Template Categories that mirror the range of Workday applications and services we offer our customers. These categories simplify the process of navigating and selecting templates. Template categories include:
Benefits
Financials
Payroll
Spend Management
Third Party Payroll

TWO TYPES OF INTEGRATION TEMPLATES
Workday Integration Cloud Connect provides templates for two types of Integrations:
End-to-End connectors and connectors.
INTEGRATION TEMPLATES
A term commonly used to refer to any particular pre-built Cloud Connect integration from the catalog.
END-TO-END CONNECTORS
Fully designed end-to-end integrations to a specific named third party or service.
CONNECTORS
Not specific to any one third party vendor or target system. Designed to be flexible so that they can be used as the foundation for integrations to many third party vendors or target systems.
END-TO-END CONNECTORS
End-to-End Connectors are fully designed end-to-end integrations to a specific named third-party or service.
An example in Benefits would be the Aetna Medical, Dental, Vision integration template that is built specifically for the Aetna network.
Examples of other end-to-end templates outside of Benefits:
E-Verify – Employment Verification (HCM)
Check Printing (Financials)
ADP Tax Filing – Monthly (Payroll)
Import Credit Cardholder File (AMEX GL 1205 – UNMASKED) (Spend Management)
There are many advantages to these Workday End-to-end connector integrations, as no custom coding is required--only configuration to meet customer specifications.
The end-to-end connector integration template also handles the output transformation for that specific endpoint, requiring no Document Transform service, Workday Studio, or custom XSLT code to do the conversion.
Another advantage is End-to-end connector templates are fully supported by Workday and are kept up to date with each new release, unlike custom integrations.
Prior to each release, End-to-end connector templates are regression-tested to ensure performance integrity. Workday provides updates to End-to-end connectors to maintain functionality with core applications, tooling and infrastructure, and to evolve with changes to the third-party application and with the needs of our shared customers.
Once in production, Workday’s Support team can work with the product team to address and fix any issues uncovered with the end-to-end connector, and can provide guidance and troubleshooting assistance related to the configuration or execution of the end-to-end connector based integration.
