How Choosing The Right Type Of Wine

Wines as we know them are often classified as red or white wine. However, this distinction is made easier by considering the different types depending on the grape variety and the location of the vineyard where they are grown.

Having invested hundreds of dollars in your latest bottle of old wine (well, we can but dream), the next important decision is where to store this precious item?

The knowledge that wine can come in hundreds, perhaps thousands of flavors, can leave you feeling intimidated, especially if you have to order wine at restaurants. The basic rule is that no wine is perfect because it depends on your taste buds. An expensive wine that may taste good to one person may taste bad to another.

When ordering wine at a restaurant, ask for a wine of your choice or tasting it. If you are a newbie or have no idea which wines are the best, then it is always a good idea to ask for help from a waiter or restaurant staff who takes your order. It is fair to conclude that the staff or waiter should have been given instructions and basic training in wine selection by the restaurant owner or manager. But what if the waiter is as inexperienced as their customers about their wine list? What if the big decision about which wine to order is left in your hands? The Art of Tasting Wine.

If there are no staff members who know about wines or who can make suggestions, ask the waiter to come back and ask their colleagues about their interests. Ask your dining companions if they prefer red or white wine. The most common options would be chardonnay white wine as this is the king of white wine, or cabernet sauvignon red wine as this is known as the king of red wine. No other choice could be more secure.

Wines benefit from storage in dark conditions. While this may not always work, wine should certainly be stored in a place where it is not exposed to direct sunlight.

If you are eating white meat or chicken, it may be best to order white wine. If you prefer red meat like pork or roast beef, then Pinot Noir red wine may be the perfect wine you can order. Ordering a bottle of wine is sometimes cheaper than ordering a glass of wine. There are restaurants that offer discounts to customers ordering two or more bottles of wine.

Whether you have a limited budget or not, it is always wise to ask for the price of wine per bottle or glass, as long as you have the stock information of their prices next time you are given the task of deciding on the same group order wine. If money is not a problem for you, Dom Perignon would be a good choice even though this wine has a higher price than others. There are equally good wine sparklers like Iron Horse or Domaine Chandon that have the right price, depending on where you eat.

Most modern wines do not need to be aged for long; therefore wider cellars are generally not required. Having said that, if you have the time, space and resources to dig a cellar, your wine will definitely benefit. A purposefully constructed basement is not an option for most households and therefore appropriate alternatives should be considered.
