On Tuesday morning, the final of B-A-I H-E T-A N16 hydro-generating units successfully completed a 72-hour trial operation. B-A-I H-E T-A N is second only to the Three Gorges Dam project in the central Chinese province of Hubei in terms of installed capacity, which is 16 million kilowatts.
Lei M-I N G S H-A N, chairman of China Three Gorges Corporation, stated, "B-A-I H-E T-A N represents a major breakthrough in China's high-end equipment manufacturing because it is equipped with 16 home-grown hydro-generating units, each with a capacity of 1 million kilowatts, the largest single-unit capacity in the world".
Lei went on to say that the complete operation of B-A-I H-E T-A N is crucial to China's shift in its energy structure, the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the coordinated growth of the country's regional economy.
It is anticipated that the corporation's six hydropower stations on the Yangtze River will each produce 300 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, reducing coal consumption by 90 million t and carbon emissions by 248 million.
Three Gorges Dam and G-E Z H O U B-A are in the middle of the Yangtze River, while Wudongde, B-A-I H-E T-A N, X-I L U O D U, and X-I-A N G J-I B-A are on the J-I N S H-A River, which is the upper portion of the Yangtze River
