Has it ever occurred to you that while happily typing on your computer for hours, you end up creating a problem in your neck that can lead to chronic headaches or headaches? If you suffer from a headache, or a depressive headache it may be something you should investigate.
When a person with a headache or depressive headache visits an infectious disease specialist
Because of their pain, what does the chiropractor usually do to that patient? The most common treatment for most head patients is to manage, or repair, the neck. Chiropractors teach us that most headaches are caused by neck problems, and that by correcting or treating neck tension and migraine headaches can be relieved or treated.
More than 80% of head patients receiving chiropractic treatment show improvement ranging from minor improvement to complete relief of their headache. In that case it seems logical that most migraines
headaches or depressive headaches arise from spinal (neck) problems. And it seems logical that if we knew what was causing these neck problems, and eliminated the cause, we could also eliminate headaches, both migraine and depression.
As a chiropractor for 25 years I have treated many patients with headaches and headaches. After examining thousands of patients, I discovered that about 95% of those who had headaches had one thing in common, the cervix (neck). From the side view the normal neck should have a slight curve on it. But in my experience as a chiropractor I estimate that about 95% of my patients with a headache have reduced that curve, there is no curve at all, or the curve is completely reversed. When these "bad curved necks" were treated with chiropractic correction most showed significant improvement.
Chiropractors know that headaches are caused by a "bad neck shape," so the next question becomes "can sitting on a computer cause a bad neck condition?" If the answer is yes, then it is clear that sitting at a computer can cause and cause headaches.
People tend to bend their necks because of poor posture. Anything a person does to keep his head in a forward position on his body will slow down or slow down their normal curve of the neck. And a negative neck bend DO causes headaches. Chiropractors have been teaching this for decades.
Types of activities that can lead to neck stiffness include sitting at the computer for long periods of time, reading head to head, sitting while folding a chair or sofa, sleeping with the head or neck in unusual places, or any other activity that puts the head in front of the body. So, to answer our real question, yes, the head can be caused by sitting at a computer. Sitting on a computer can cause abnormal neck flexion that can cause headaches.
A good posture can certainly prevent bad neck posture development, which may seem like the best solution, but what can be done if a narrowing or turning of the neck is already in place? Obviously, chiropractic treatment is an unthinkable option. But there are many different treatments for allergies or headaches.
Most people just take a painkiller. But are painkillers the best option? They do exist in some cases, but there are many other treatments that do not require the use of potentially dangerous drugs. All medications have side effects, some of which can end up worse than the headache itself. Before treating your health problems with drugs it is wise to seek the advice of a health professional.
