The rise in sea level due to climate change is threatening the residents of the coastal areas. By the year 2100, i.e. 79 years, 41 crore people are at risk of homelessness due to the drowning of many countries in the seaside areas. This has been estimated in a research report published in Nature Communications.

According to researchers from the NUS Environmental Research Institute in the Netherlands, by the year 2100, the sea level will rise by up to three feet. This is 53 percent higher than current estimates of water level rise, with 267 million people living in areas less than six feet above sea level, but by the year 2100 this number will increase to 410 million.
