Call For Nominations For Health Affairs Scholar Editor-in-Chief

Health Affairs is pleased to announce a call for nominations for an Editor-in-Chief for a new open access (OA) journal currently under development, Health Affairs Scholar. Last week we outlined our vision for the new journal as a companion to Health Affairs and our growing portfolio of online publications devoted to health policy thought and research. The new the OA journal will provide an additional high-level, peer-reviewed forum for the growing volume of cutting-edge health services research.
The Editor-in-Chief will be appointed in mid-2022 and is expected to serve for an initial and renewable 5-year term. The Editor-in-Chief will help develop and launch the new journal under the Health Affairs brand. Articles will include new empirical research, reviews, and methods-oriented analyses. Article topics and types will largely mirror those currently published in Health Affairs, including health care costs, access, quality, and equity. In addition, the open access journal will aim to feature global health policy research and to move quickly into emerging and intersecting fields such as housing, transportation, income, environment, and justice. This is a time, contract position reporting to Alan R. Weil, JD, MPP, Editor-in-Chief of Health Affairs.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate active involvement in health policy and/or rigorous health services research. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with prominent, peer-reviewed scholarly journals as author, peer reviewer, and/or associate editor or editorial board member; and demonstrate access to a large domestic and international network of experts working in relevant fields. An advanced degree (MS or higher) is required.
Applications should be received by March 31, 2022, and include a cover letter describing the reasons for the candidate’s interest in the position, a brief description of the candidate’s editorial experience, and a curriculum vitae. After a review of applications, candidates meeting the listed qualifications will be asked to provide additional information.
