I am not a wine expert. I don't even have a washing machine. (Some of my married friends have a handful.)
But I love wine, especially trying different varieties. There are tons of resources out there to help you learn about wine. But I do not have time to read them.
I often start by studying the notes hanging in the bottles. These have names attached to them like Wine Spectator or Robert Parker or Bill, stock. I think about the pictures and the colors of the label. I analyze price structure and measure costs and benefits. Then after an hour or so, when I was completely frustrated, I made a completely unwise decision.
So I came to this conclusion. I need help. Also, since my weight loss is limited, I need to find a wine shop with people who can help me with the process of buying a good bottle.
Not all wine shops are created equal. Here are some things to consider when choosing a wine shop:
1) Choice
Do not be deceived. Having thousands of bottles is not the same as having good choices. Many large liquor store wine labeled with the best-selling and best-selling labels. You may walk into a store and think you have thousands of options, but you really have the same bottles over and over again.
What makes a good choice? Look at the store: (1) with an experienced wine buyer and (2) a variety of flavors, regions, and prices. A good selection will provide both standard and unique wines. Why is it important to choose? Think of it as a game of chance. It is far better to choose from a few hundred wines tasted by an experienced buyer than a few thousand loaded with trucks in bulk.
2) Storage
When you walk into a store and start sweating, turn around. Wine should not be stored at temperatures above 80 degrees, or it will lose its flavor. That is why wine is usually made and stored underground. Avoid large storage areas where temperature can be difficult to control. Look for a wine shop where employees enjoy wearing summer jerseys. It is possible that the wine will be cool and happy again.
3) Information
A good wine shop is a good source of information. Don’t be afraid to ask too many questions and seek staff recommendations. Many stores in Kansas City offer a taste of wine, which is a great opportunity to try before you buy.
4) Price
Of course, wine prices vary greatly, and I have never found one that is always cheaper. Even discount supermarkets do not just save money. Once you find your favorite store based on three other features, you can save money by subscribing to the store's newsletters or by joining its tasting club. Usually, stores send special deals and donations to these customers first.
The fifth special category is simplicity. This is especially important if you are shopping in bulk, or if you want to be picked up as soon as you return from work. It’s good to know where most of the good stores are in town, so you know which one to hit whenever the feeling comes.
