Book Review Warriors Workers Whiners And Weasels:

We all know a Neville. You know, the person who threatens to take down your organization using every trick in the book to advance his career, no matter how it affects others. Warrior, Worker, Winner, and Ship: 4 Personality Types in Business and How to Manage Them to Your Advantage by entrepreneur Tim O'Leary takes a refreshing look at the different personalities we face and how to handle them.

The premise of the book is that basically everyone fits into one of four personality groups - Warrior, Worker, Winner, or Weasel. O'Leary describes each as follows:

Warriors, those who resist change, see possibilities, innovate and manage to win!

Activists, who confidently deal with the vicissitudes and challenges of everyday corporate life, and who can reliably implement change and direction established by warriors.

Whisperers, who live by complaining about everything they do, who feign negativity and dissatisfaction wherever they go, and blame others for their shortcomings.

Weasels, who lurk everywhere and threaten your career and life goals through their delusions and insecurities, and who quickly spread these feelings throughout the organization.

The book is designed to help you figure out which group you fit into, give you the tools you need to get into the group you want to be in, and Learn how to deal effectively with every group of people the book does really well. Forcing you to analyze yourself honestly. O'Leary warns you that you may not like what you find, but is also quick to reinforce that you are in control and that the changes you make in your life will change. fit into this group. You can do whatever you want.

Even more interesting (and fun) is looking at people you know and placing them in their appropriate categories. We've all experienced tinnitus and it helps to know what makes them tick and how to deal with them effectively so they don't negatively impact your life. O'Leary uses the analogy of the common cold - you can't completely eliminate weasels from your life, but you can take precautions to limit the frequency and duration of their entry into your life. Limit their damage. .

O'Leary uses light humor with a serious attitude to brilliantly combine a business book and a self-help book. One chapter might focus on self-analysis, the next on personal stories from O'Leary's experiences, and the next on management. The book is 200 pages long but reads at half the speed of a book. I often found myself reading several chapters in one sitting, which is a testament to the authors' ability to hold the reader's interest. If there's a downside (and it's not much of one), it's that O'Leary is so brutally honest that it might rub some people the wrong way, especially those with a whiff and a weasel. Come in circles. are

Warrior, Worker, Winner, and Ship: 4 Personality Types in Business and How to Manage Them to Your Advantage by Tim O'Leary For every entrepreneur, business owner, manager, and employee who wants to learn more about themselves. This is a must read. Take advantage of their best qualities, and protect yourself from those who might sabotage their careers.

Get A 6 Figure Book Advance:

Writing a book is the dream of 81% of the population. No matter how many times people tell you how hard it is to do, almost everyone wants to do it. A certain romance hangs around writers. I think it's a kind of nostalgia or grieving for some forgotten part of yourself. We long to return to a place where magic and imagination are respected.

Others just want the instant glory or fast money they associate with being a writer. But whatever you want, earning a 6-figure book advance is possible if you have the skills, drive and know-how. Here are five tips to get you started on your dream of becoming a well-paid, respected writer.

1. Know the industry.

Educate yourself about how the publishing industry works. Unlike in the old days when publishers wanted to build long-term relationships with authors who would be their stable, today their top priority is simply to sell books.

While I was traveling in Mexico this year, I met a woman whose husband has been a best-selling author in England for twenty years. He had the same agent and publisher for the same twenty years. Every time he came out with a new book, his publishers expected it to be the English equivalent of "Number One" on the New York Times bestseller list. They worked with him to do this. In America, the bottom line is king. You must be able to substantiate your claim that your book would fly off the shelves without a publisher's help.

2. Prove there is a market for your book.

In today's world you need to demonstrate that your book will sell to a large audience, or to many small niche audiences. Quantify each audience with data that shows they buy books on the topic. It's not enough to say that this audience will be interested in your topic. You must be able to demonstrate with your well-researched facts that your readers are a *book-buying* audience.

3. Develop a platform.

This is the most important aspect of your proposal when you have proven that there is a great need for your book and that the audience that will buy the book will acquire it. A platform is simply your ability to sell books to an audience that you've said will buy from you.

It's all about the numbers. How many people are on your e-zine list? How many people do you talk to each month? How many people buy your products and services now? Do you have big name corporations or organizations that will buy your books in bulk? Do you have a regular column, or write for publications? Do you often appear in the media? You won't get a 6 figure advance if you don't have an impressive platform.

4. Map out a marketing plan to promote your book.

Your plan should include everything from speaking engagements, online marketing, licensing, and media placement. It should be realistic and actionable. In other words, you can't say you'll speak to organizations of 1,000 or more people if you've never done it.

What do publishers hate the most?

When you say you're right for Oprah. Unless you're already a guest and taping the show, please never say this if you don't want your reputation to be immediately damaged.

Instead, show how you would build on your past advertising. If the host or producer says they want you back for another segment because you did so well the first time, say so. But if you haven't done much media till date, don't worry.

You can start today and get dozens of profiles, features and comments in the media in a few months by joining PRLeads, a service that delivers reporters' queries (stories they need experts on). Delivered daily to your email inbox.

5. Get validation.

Big names sell mass products. Celebrities, best-selling authors, actors, athletes, leading experts in your field, media personalities, any famous name that has glitter gives you the kind of credibility that can't be bought. .

One of my clients, who got several New York Times best-selling authors to write about him, gained three things from his endorsement. Everyone who wrote about him told a different story about why he would be a winning writer. The former hailed him as a highly successful professional. Another said that my client's book filled a gap that his book failed to fill. The third showed that the people my client was trying to reach were hungry for the kind of book my client was trying to buy—as they bought it.

These meaningful endorsements effectively helped him earn a 6-figure advance. (And he coached the media on my behalf before meeting editors from major New York publishing houses who bid for his book at auction).

Don't get endorsements just by saying you're awesome. Your endorsement does double duty by helping to prove that there's a market and you're the one they want to buy from. This is the type of information that sets you apart from the other 150,000 authors who are published each year, many of whom never retrace their steps. Don't be one of them. Instead, follow this advice and you'll be well on your way to a 6-figure book advance.

Good luck!
