Introduction:
Biodiversity means the variety of life which is present on the earth. There are so many species living on planet earth. Such as: human, animals, fishes, insects etc. In our surrounding we can see these living organisms live together and make community and this community is also called Biodiversity. Biodiversity gives us many benefits such as: it gives well environment and make the climate livable, fresh air, constant temperature vice versa. If the biodiversity is well-developed and well-structured it can give good impact on environment, but a few years back, the use of biodiversity is not going well. For example: deforestation, over-exploitation, over-fisheries, cutting of forests, climate change etc. Nowadays, we are using over biodiversity and if it will continue all the creatures will be in danger.
Threats to Biodiversity:
There are several kinds of threats to biodiversity. Some of them are discussed below:
Habitat Fragmentation:
Ecosystem conversion and ecosystem downfall gives habitat fragmentation. Habitat loss from exploitation of resources, agricultural changeover or other factors “is” the largest factors contributing to the loss of biodiversity. Scientists report that the effect of habitat fragmentation on biodiversity may not be fully realized for decades after habitat degraded. Therefore, habitat connectivity must be considered in current management practices to prevent the damaging effects of fragmentation on biodiversity.
[1] Pollution:
Pollution is a big threat to biodiversity. Pollution from burning fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas can remain in air as particles of pollution or fall to the ground as acid rain. Acid rain is originally made up of sulfuric and nitric acid which converts lakes, streams and sensitive forest soils into acids and caused to slower forest growth and tree damage at higher risk.
[2] Global Climate Change:
Global climate change is the major threat to biodiversity nowadays. Global warming is occurs by carbon dioxide released from burning fossil fuels ‘and’ it will mix up in the air. It is also come off by deforestation and cutting of forests. When deforestation occurs, the carbon dioxide will increase in atmosphere and global warming increases, which will result in loss of biodiversity.
[3] Over Harvesting:
Over harvesting is a serious threat to many species, specifically to aquatic species. There are many examples of over fisheries (including hunting of marine mammals) that are growing nowadays. Over fisheries is very dangerous for aquatic species. Whales have slow growing populations and at risk of complete distinction through hunting. Also, there are some species of sharks with restricted distributions that are at risk of extinction.
[4] Exotic Species:
Exotic species are those species that have been knowingly or accidentally introduced by humans into an ecosystem in which they did not evolve. It is also called Invasive species. When an invasive species is introduced to an ecosystem, it can extinct the native species by hunting or using food purposes of natives ‘and’ they can carry diseases to ecosystem ‘and’ it can be very harmful to native species and other biodiversity.
[5] Conservation of Biodiversity:
The threats to biodiversity have been “recognize” for some time. We can conserve biodiversity by the rare use of hunting, we have to do not cut off trees and habitat restoration. Some precautions are discussed below:
Conservation in Preserves:
Establishment of wildlife and ecosystem preserves is one of the key tools in conservation efforts. A preserve is an area of land of set aside with varying degrees of protection for the organisms that exist within the boundaries of the preserve.
[6] Habitat Restoration:
Habitat restoration holds considerable promise as a mechanism for maintaining or restoring biodiversity. Of course, once specie has become extinct, its restoration is impossible. However, restoration can improve the biodiversity of degraded ecosystems.
[7]. Habitat restoration is also can be defined as we plant trees as much as possible. Because if we plant rich quantity of trees, these trees can resolve our climate changing effects and there are also trees which are capable to exhale carbon dioxide and release oxygen. By the planting a “lots” of trees we can gain oxygen from them and our environment will be very clear neat and clean ‘and’ it will be livable for all living organisms.
Conclusion:
Biodiversity is the variety of life which is present on the earth. Biodiversity is very beneficial for all creatures. If we care about it, it will increase ,but if we do not care it can be in endangered situation. Then it will be very harmful to all living organisms. Nowadays there are many threats to biodiversity which are causes, the distinction of various species. These are over-exploitation, over-fisheries, hangering, over-harvesting, pollution, climate change and global warming. Biodiversity “can be” conserve by taking few steps quickly because if now we do not take any step to save biodiversity then all the living species will be in very critical endangered status.
Summary:
It is very easy to see biodiversity in our surroundings in the form of animals, plants, humans, algae, fungi, fishes and insects. There are so many benefits of healthy biodiversity such as: fresh air, constant temperature, good environment, beautiful scenery and much more. It is our responsibility to save and conserve the biodiversity for all living species.
