TYPES OF VACCINES
• INACTIVATED VACCINES [eg. Covaxin]
A virus is produced in a lab and is then treated with some chemicals to inactivate it. Now the viruses, after becoming harmless, are used as an inactivated Vaccine called 'The Covaxin.'
• VIRAL VECTOR VACCINE [eg. Covishield, Sputnik V]
In Covishield, a Chimpanzee adenovirus is taken. The genetic code in the Chimpanzee Virus is replaced with the SARS -COV2 virus(the virus responsible for coronavirus). So, the Chimpanzee vaccine now becomes ready to work as a vaccine in your body.
SPUTNIK V: This too is prepared in the same manner, but instead of Chimpanzee virus Human Adenovirus is used.
The other type of vaccine is the mRNA vaccine which is not so common in India [eg. Pfizer,Moderna Vaccines].
•Are the vaccine effective against new strains of Corona Virus?
