Thiruvananthapuram : Schools in Kerala, which have been closed for two years due to the coronavirus outbreak, are set to reopen next Monday to welcome students.
Extensive arrangements are already being made in schools to welcome students, including a mega clean-up and disinfection movement.
Although Kerala Education Minister V Sivan has made it clear that it is not mandatory for students to conduct classes in person, he is confident that more children will attend classes than some who reopened schools before the Omicron wave. Made them retreat back to the online learning system.
“Although initially only a few students go to school, this number is likely to increase in the coming days,” the minister said, citing how students are returning to the classrooms among their friends and the Govt threat.
The government expects at least 47 lakh students to return. There are 38 lakh students in Kerala from class 1 to 10.
At least 7.5 lakh students are studying in high schools and about 66,000 are in vocational high schools.
The minister clarified that online classes are available for others who are not yet able to go to school. He ordered schools to ensure this. "The priority is to complete the classes on time and conduct the exams on time," Sivankutty said.
He also said that schools could conduct extra classes to complete the curriculum on time. Although schools resumed classes for a while in November, the Omicron wave that hit Kerala in 2021 saw many schools being forced to close and students retreating to the online learning system. Even during these short resumes, only a handful of students attended the classes in person. On Monday, this is the first time since the outbreak of the Govt epidemic in early 2020 that schools have resumed full-day classes at full strength.
This order applies to all schools, including those that follow the CBSE and ICSE syllabi. However, the initial units will continue to operate with 50 percent attendance. Lunch will be provided for students from pre-primary to eighth grade.
Following the reopening of schools in Kerala on Monday, the school administration has announced some restrictions on students.
The action was taken by the Minister of School Education following the reduction of corona infection in Kerala. There was no announcement in the statement of the Minister of Education regarding the writing of the examination by the students.
The statement issued by the Minister of Education regarding the opening of schools is subject to the conditions of the students. The announcement of the opening of schools by the Government of Kerala has attracted the attention of the public.
The announcement of the Kerala State Government has been widely supported by the people and the media.
