How Anxiety Ends With Us

Positive behavior will occur if you practice relaxation techniques. The stress- and anxiety-free lifestyle you adapt will be a normal part of your life as long as you eat right and hold fast to the belief that less is usually more. Other wise anxiety can affect us in unhealthy ways quite quickly.

Anxiety is not a hidden agenda in our lives. It's powerful, affordable and thankfully manageable. As a wise man once said, we shouldn't ask why we are anxious, we should ask why not? As every aspect of modern life is fast-paced and overloaded, we need to make a concerted effort to slow down. We must also be careful not to cause anxious behavior to spill over into the lives of the people we come into contact with.

Co-workers, spouses, and even our children can be affected by the power our anxiety has over us. Sometimes others see it long before we even notice it is being pushed on us. Sometimes we can inadvertently cause anxiety in others simply by our choice of words or actions. If the cycle of anxiety is to end, it must be recognized, addressed, and extracted from every aspect of our lives.

Co-workers or employees may experience poor job performance simply by working in a stressful workplace. Slowing down and considering how people work better in a stress-free environment is a big step in the right direction. It's not a difficult step and has so many great benefits for everyone involved.

Spouses are only aware that something is wrong, while not fully realizing that stress and anxiety are building up and causing ripples in the marriage. It is very likely that if one spouse is anxious because of financial problems, too much work, or parenting problems, the other spouse is also anxious. This vicious cycle can wreak havoc on a typically loving home and the people who inhabit it.

Children live what they learn. They may actually believe they are creating anxious behavior in mom or dad because of something they have done. Young children will internalize and reflect their fears in guilt. Older children are more likely to rebel and act out at school in an attempt to deal with the emotional overload of dealing with parents who are not relaxed.

The good news is that anxiety can be effectively treated in a variety of ways. You can choose to treat anxiety medically, holistically, or personally and get immediate results. The key to successfully treating anxiety is to recognize it for what it really is. There are many self-help books, websites and meetings available for all ages.
