How America making China more aggressive on Taiwan

The tension in the region has reached a high level after Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the American Parliament, is about to visit Taiwan. Palosi, who left for a visit to Asia on Friday, has not revealed whether or not she will go to Taiwan. But after China objected to his visit, the US Biden administration asked Palosi not to go to Taiwan. It is not known whether Palosi accepted the request of the administration. In his tweet on Sunday, he mentioned going to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan, but Taiwan was not included in it. But now he has reached the Japanese island of Okinawa, which is near Taiwan, and it is said that a plan has been made to take him to Taiwan by placing him on a commercial plane. Although China continues to issue harsh statements about the visit of high-ranking officials of the United States, there are indications that it is ready to take a step forward this year. China believes that the visit of a high-ranking official like Pelosi, who ranks third in the order of dignity after the president and vice president, violates the one-China policy, and Pelosi has been raising her voice in favor of Taiwan for a long time. That is why Hu Xijin, a journalist and former Global Times editor who is considered to have close ties to China's top leaders, said that aircraft carriers should be deployed in the Taiwan Strait and fighter jets should be flown in Taiwan's skies. The Global Times itself has included the views of China's top think tanks in its content published on Friday (July 29). In it, they have recalled the warning given before China's war against India and Vietnam. "Don't say we didn't give a warning," they insisted on giving a similar warning to America. Similarly, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Senior Colonel Tan Kefei said that the visit of Pelosi will definitely be met with a military response. And Chao Liqian, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, has indicated that China will do what it says, and that it can go to the extent of military action. And last Thursday, in the talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his American counterpart Joe Biden, Xi said that the US should be clear about the fact that those who play with fire will be scared while talking about Taiwan. In order to confirm that they are serious about Taiwan, the Chinese People's Liberation Army has also started military exercises near the coast of Fujian Province, which is connected to the Taiwan Strait. A live fire exercise was conducted on Saturday from 8 am to 9 pm in the Pingtan Islands group. During the exercise, no vessel was warned not to enter the area. Perhaps targeting this exercise, the Chinese army posted a post on the social network Weibo on Thursday. There were only two words written on it which means 'preparation for war'. Chinese-born analyst Jennifer Chung writes that the post shows massive engagement from Weibo users. But all these expressions cannot be understood as a final warning, writes Chinese analyst Wan-Ti Sung. He said that since the Chinese officials themselves did not pronounce the last wording of the warning, it cannot be said that China is ready for war. It is true that China's think tank organizations speak the voice of the government, but they cannot be expected to be as authoritative as government officials. But the idea that America is taking the final test of their patience seems to have come to the Chinese. According to an article published in Global Times in August last year, the Chinese concluded that the US is adopting a salami slicing strategy regarding Taiwan. The Chinese say that this strategy is intended to give up the strategic dilemma that the US is adopting regarding Taiwan (regarding Taiwan as a province of China) in practice, but to maintain the one-China policy. According to political analyst Timur Fomenko, Americans have made comments that the United States has been able to prevent Russia from gaining a quick victory by continuously providing arms to Ukraine. Their conclusion is that China will be forced to think twice before attacking Taiwan by presenting it as an example. Therefore, strong anti-China elements in the US Parliament are trying to test whether China is really serious about Taiwan by making this provocative activity more aggressive. It seems that the purpose of the Americans is to bring China to a politically embarrassing position while ignoring the military activities being carried out by China to prevent Pelosi from reaching Taiwan. In any case, if Pelosi reaches Taiwan, the border line drawn by China will be exceeded, and if appropriate military action is not taken, the world's respect for China will also be damaged. According to analyst Fomenko, the United States has played a role in causing war by ignoring the line drawn by Russia regarding Ukraine, and it is trying to repeat the same thing in Taiwan. Considering this, Fomenko has harshly commented that American foreign policy is falling prey to strategic madness. The current tension may not turn into a war, but if a war does happen, the consequences will be fatal for both sides. According to the material published in the Foreign Affairs magazine in December 2021, if there is a conflict between China and the US over Taiwan, not only those two countries but also East Asian countries will be damaged. This damage has been assessed because both China and the US can use nuclear weapons if they see that the war is not going in their favor.
