Farming and fundamental harvests.

• Arable Farming

 Although there are many millions of cattle (oxen, buffaloes) used for farm jobs especially in Asia and Africa, they are slowly being replaced, as they already have been in the West, by tractors and other machinery. 

 Cattle are now bred for their main purpose - meat, milk, or work, though scientists are trying to crossbreed so that they are good for both meat and milk. 

•  Fishing 

This is usually included under agriculture, and although it produces only about one percent of human food, it is vitally important in some places. In less developed countries, fishing is done from small boats on rivers, lakes, and near the coast. Developed countries have gigantic fishing ships with many electronic aids to locate shoals. Fish stocks are becoming so depleted, especially in European waters, that some species may become extinct. Laws now limit the amount that can be caught, and there is a great expansion of fish farming.
