Even though there hasn't been much information shared regarding the Galaxy S24's design, it doesn't appear likely that it will differ significantly from what the firm has been providing for the past few years. Samsung has unified its design aesthetic across all phone models as of 2023, even entry-level ones like the Galaxy A14. It's hard to think of a ground-breaking new design planned for 2024, yet everything is conceivable.
There was a report that Samsung would remove the Galaxy S24+ from its range, leaving only the smaller, entry-level Galaxy S24 and the productivity-focused Galaxy S24 Ultra. Since the Galaxy S10, the firm has released three smartphones a year, with the Plus model debuting with the Galaxy S8 and possibly even earlier if you regard the Galaxy S6 Edge as a prototype. It makes sense on some level. The Galaxy S23+ and S23 Ultra are pretty similar, therefore forgoing the more affordable model might lead some customers to spend more on their subsequent smartphone.
But even so, it would surprise us if this turned out to be true, and we are not the only ones who have our reservations. Roland Quant at Win Future quickly questioned the accuracy of the article, saying that no one should infer anything from the absence of internal code word information, especially given that the leak happened before the S23's introduction. After all, these reports are still in the early stages, so it will still be some time before we learn what Samsung has in store for its lineup for the next year.
It's a little simpler to assume the specifications. The Galaxy S24 in the United States and other countries will probably be powered by the "yet", as yet, unknown Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It's difficult to imagine the two firms' collaboration ceasing after they collaborated to design a unique Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 model for the Galaxy S23 last year. In the meanwhile, these phones should have between 8 GB and 12 GB of RAM, along with different storage options depending on your budget. It is essentially another contemporary smartphone.
According to rumors, Samsung may try switching back to Expos chips in some countries as early as next year. Before, there were reports that the firm planned to return to internal CPUs by 2027, but the corporation has since disputed these claims. A new generation of Expos chips could take its place in the future. Although it's unclear exactly where Samsung would stop using Qualcomm, Europe appears to be the most likely continent. Only time will tell whether it will be a divisive move, given the popularity of the Qualcomm-based Galaxy S23.
One UI 6, which is based on Android 14, has not yet been demonstrated, but it will. Before making its way to the whole Galaxy S23 series, it'll probably first appear on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. The Galaxy S24, on the other hand, will debut with One UI 6, or even One UI 6.1, adding a few additional features to Android 14 at launch. Before we know what to anticipate, One UI 6 must be released in beta.
