With the help of a smart phone in hand, it is possible to perform various services and complete work from the place within a few seconds without wandering anywhere. In particular, we send money directly from the bank account through UPI in seconds without carrying money in hand and without waiting in long queues at ATM centers.
Sometimes this UPI app also crashes. There are also cases of people getting into trouble at the last moment without having to carry money and not having internet connection or cell phone signal. In this situation, for the last few years, news has been shared that the practice of charging fees for UPI services will also come into effect. However, they were reported to be rumours.
In this situation, Google's G Pay has silently started charging for UPI services. The app, which is used by around 6.5 crore people in India, has left customers shocked by its charges. Google Pay, which initially brought customers to its fold by offering benefits like cash back and vouchers, has now been accused by users of offering useless vouchers.
However, Google Pay has become an indispensable app due to its ease of sending money, electricity bill, cell phone, DDH recharge etc. It is in this context that Google Pay has quietly started collecting service fees from users since last month. Most of the users are still not aware of this fee collection by Google Pay.
In the new rules, there is no charge for recharges below Rs.100. However, recharge between Rs.101 to Rs.200 will incur a service charge of Rs.1 and recharge between Rs.201 to Rs.300 will incur a service charge of Rs.2. Google Pay has named it Convenience Fee. There are some ways to avoid this. There is no charge if you recharge using the UPI app of whichever bank you are a customer of. You can also recharge using the app of the mobile networks you are using without any charges.
