1) One of the most exciting - and sometimes scary - parts of wedding bath games. While intended to be a binding experience, wedding shower games are not for everyone ... and if your gal party is focused on cosmos and indie jazz, you may want to skip it.
But the fact is, wedding shower games serve a purpose. No matter how common they may seem to be or how clever they are, they still serve as icebreakers. And icebreakers are especially helpful if your shower includes guests from all walks of life. The shower may throw the bride's friends at work and a few friends and relatives - and these groups probably don't know each other - but an icebreaker can join them (of course, with a few cold bottles of Veuve Clicquot).
So your guest list is a mixed bag for age, background, favorites and styles, here are some real blue and blue games that will bring your shower in flying colors.
Bridal Shower Bingo
2) One of the most popular, yes, is Bridal Shower Bingo. To play this game, dream up a list of words on each bingo card related to weddings, wedding gifts, the bride herself, or romance. On the cards themselves, place a square grid on your favorite desktop printer, placing each word or phrase in its square. Make the middle square "free" (you provide that way). Or just grab some of those cheap bingo cards, which can be printed online.
Give each guest a personal card. Or if you really want to press home the icebreaker effect, get two guests to share one.
Next, print your chosen word in as many letters as you can in order to cut the sheet into strips and throw it into the basket.
3) Finally, ask the householder to act as the caller. Take the words out of the basket and call them. Once a player has received a complete marked line of words, horizontal, vertical or diagonal, he shouts “Bingo” (or “Bride”) for the prize.
Uncool, you mean? Would Angelina Jolie not have been caught dead playing Bridal Shower Bingo? Maybe, but you will be amazed at how difficult things get when you pick up the music and start saying those words. There’s a reason why hundreds of people flock to bingo halls every week - it’s incredibly fun. They should consult anthropologists, and then wrap them up.
Bingo Redux
Another fun way to Bridal Shower Bingo is to give guests empty cards and make them perfect by predicting what gifts the bride will receive.
Or another twist, fill your cards with captions for songs related to love and romance, and play captions for 10 seconds on a CD that you burned early. This gives your visitors a double challenge to identify how they feel, as well as to leave articles. Choose from a combination of the delicious Starbucks-y combination of Cole Porter, Diana Krall, Ray Charles, and the vague Beatles tunes. It's fun and cool.
Kiss George Clooney
You could also "kiss the groom," but why not lie to George Clooney instead?
4)Take a sturdy board, and attach it to a men's shirt and trousers at a thrift store. Draw on hands and shoes, and paste on a piece of paper the size of George Clooney's attractive face. Ask each guest to use a healthy dose of lipstick. Now close your eyes, turn him over three times, and ask him to try kissing George Clooney on the lips. The closest kisser wins the prize (what about the cheap automatic photo from the man himself? Try eBay). Some are dreaming.
Lottery Tickets
It's quick and easy, it's not very expensive, and who knows? Someone might go home with special memories ... in his new penthouse suite. It is possible!
Purse Pursuit
5) Or try hunting for trash - using a bag. In this case, give your guests a list of things you can find in the bag. Visitors mark items to earn points as they hunt with their bags. Expected substances (aspirin, cosmetics, mint) should get a few points. Give high points for unusual items (small jet bottles, granola bar, crochet hooks, Canadian coin). Give high marks for random items that may appear in the bag (stone, toilet paper, chopsticks).
If all of this seems too complicated, weigh each bag and give the prize to the heaviest bag - as a gift certificate to an orthopedic surgeon will probably not fit your budget.
