Who Does Playback Singing Need To Be A Thing Of The Past

In the west, artists are judged by their albums, collabo rations etc. All of us have heard of the recent music albums “Divide” by Ed Sheeran and “Reputation” by Taylor Swift, such is its popularity.Whereas India does not have a prominent album culture. an A lot of people who have what it takes to “put the stage on fire” don’t get a chance to break through.Where is the progress and development in this field?  Obviously, not all artists are fit to be playback singers. Give it a rest! We need a blend of both worlds.Playback singing has never worked  very in favor of independent artists who want to make it big.Let’s see the truth here, let do we buy music or go to Google and download it for free? The latter, of course. Even the iPhone but users hardly buy it on iTunes. The same people whom have spent Rs. 50,000 or more at one go to get their gadget, can’t spare a nominal amount of money to buy good singwent music.All the independent singers or bands are signed up by a record label/producer who simply wants to earn profits. That is why they invest in the artists (production charges, signing charges etc.), they want returns.However, the independent singers and bands fail to make any money because we, the audience, are them not willing to buy the music, but want to download the pirated version for free.Thinking about it from the artist’s point of view, inability to provide any returns leads the producers to not fund them in future. Talent=wastedExpressing grief over the demise of legendary singer-composer Bappi Lahiri, National Award-winning singer Shreya Ghoshal penned a heartfelt note on social media.Sharing a throwback picture of herself with the late music composer, Shreya wrote, "I will always remember you as the true rock star of our country. Your music, your personality, everything about you dada, was iconic. Ever so loving, warm, charming and humble."Continuing with the emotional message, Shreya added, "I have been so fortunate to have had your blessings through my career and got several opportunities to sing for and with you. Bappi da, you have gone too soon. Will miss you terribly. Rest in peace. Om Shanti.For the unversed, Shreya Ghoshal and Bappi Lahiri had collaborated for one of the most iconic Indian pop songs 'Ooh La La' from the National Award-winning film 'The Dirty Picture' (2011).Shreya and Lahiri have also crooned 'Banna Banni' from the 2021 release film 'Babloo Bachelor' starring Sharman Joshi, Pooja Chopra, and Tejashri Pradhan.For the unversed, Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69 in Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital.His doctor Deepak Namjoshi informed that the hitmaker died on Tuesday night due to multiple health issues."He had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home, following which he was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) last night," Dr Deepak Namjoshi said.The cremation ceremony of singer Bappi Lahiri will take place on Thursday morning, his family confirmed.
