Recycling is the process of turning waste materials into new materials and objects. Recovery of energy from waste materials is often included in this term. The recallability of a material depends on its ability to regain the properties it had in its original state.[1] It is an alternative to "conventional" waste disposal that can save material and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It can also prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy consumption, air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling). Recycling is very important in our lives. Recycling reduces the need for landfills. The world has changed a lot over the last century, and the amount of waste we as humans produce is growing rapidly. The human population has grown and consumers are now buying more than before. Lifestyle changes such as fast food and the choice of disposable items mean that more waste is now being produced. This is compounded by the fact that much of the new packaging is not biodegradable. Extracting and processing raw materials such as wood, oil or ore to produce products such as paper, plastic and metal is a process that requires a lot of energy. While the amount of energy saved by recycling varies depending on what is being recycled, almost all recycling processes save significant amounts of energy compared to processes that use raw materials. This is because recycled products usually require much less processing to turn them into usable items compared to products made from scratch.
