The word"diwali" means row of lights. The diwali is a festival of lights . It is the most important festival of India. It is celebrated all over the country with great pomp and show. It is the biggest festival of the Hindus. This festival falls in October or early November. It marks the advent of winter season. It comes off just twenty days after the dussehra.
The festival of diDiwa is associated with lord rama.he was the eldest Prince of ayodhya, a kingdom in eastern india.just a few days before his coronation,he was exiled at the instance of his step-mother,the youngest queen of his father.she wanted the throne for her own son,bharata. Rama left his kingdom along with his brother lakshmana and his wife Sita. He came to the south india and lived at a place known as pancha vati. There he passed his thirteen years happily and safely. But the fourteenth year wasbfull of troubles for him. He developed enmity with Ravana, the roles of Lanka. Ravana was a revengeful person who carried away rama's wife Sita when he and his brother were away for a game. after a long search, rama rame to know that Sita was with ravana.he sought help from a tribal king,sugreeva and his general hanumana. He made war on Ravana in order to rescue his wife Sita. ravana was defeated and killed in the action.
At the end of the fourteenth year,rama came back to ayodhya along with his wife and brother. People of ayodhya welcomed their prince back with great rejoining.bharata gave the throne to rama. At night people lit lights to mark the joyous day of their belibel Prince's returns. Since that day the diwali is celebrated every year just twenty days after the dussehra.
so, Diwali was celebrated all over the world when the Indian culture had spread all around.
