Ronaldo has had six children. He first became a father to a son, Cristiano Jr., born on 17 June 2010 in the United States. He stated that he has full custody of the child and would not be publicly revealing the identity of the mother per agreement with her. In January 2015, Ronaldo announced his five-year relationship with Russian model Irina Shayk had ended.
Ronaldo then became father to twins, daughter Eva and son Mateo, born on 8 June 2017 in the United States via surrogacy. He is in a relationship with Spanish model Georgina Rodríguez, who gave birth to their daughter, Alana Martina, on 12 November 2017. A boy and a girl were born on 18 April 2022, but the boy died during childbirth.
A versatile attacker, Ronaldo is capable of playing on either wing as well as through the center of the pitch, and, while ostensibly right-footed, is very strong with both feet. Tactically, Ronaldo has undergone several evolutions throughout his career. While at sporting and during his first season at Manchester United, he was typically deployed as a traditional winger on the right side of midfield, where he regularly looked to deliver crosses into the penalty area. Ronaldo's father, José, died of an alcoholism-related liver condition at age 52 in September 2005 when Ronaldo was 20. Ronaldo said that he does not drink alcohol, and he received libel damages over a Daily Mirror article that reported him drinking heavily in a nightclub while recovering from an injury in July 2008. He also does not have any tattoos, as he regularly donates blood and bone marrow. His mother Dolores was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 but eventually, recovered Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Manchester United's Premier League fixture at Liverpool on Tuesday following the death of one of his newborn twins.
A United statement read: "Family is more important than everything, and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time.
"As such, we confirm he will not feature in the match against Liverpool at Anfield, and we underline the family's request for privacy."
Ronaldo announced the news on Monday, saying "our baby boy has passed away" in a post on social media, while confirming the birth of his baby girl.
The 37-year-old and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, said they were expecting twins at the end of October 2021.
"It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel," Ronaldo's post added.
"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live at this moment with some hope and happiness.
"We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.
"We are all devastated at this loss, and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.
"Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."
Manchester United offered their support for Ronaldo in a post on Twitter on Monday evening.
The club statement read: "Your pain is our pain, Cristiano. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time."
