COVID-19 HEALTH TRACKER- WHY IS IT NEEDED?

Since 2019, Covid-19 has been affecting the normal lives. Monitoring the Covid-19 infected patients is still a challenge. The pandemic has affected our everyday lives in a critical manner. The existing method of maintaining social distance is not much effective. To bring down the consequences caused by this deadly disease, the only feasible solution is to lessen the spread and suppress the disease. Due to the slow emergence of vaccines, it is noted that wearable technologies are able to monitor and foretell the occurrences of Covid-19 using certain sensors which measures distances between two people and other devices that help in measuring the normal health conditions like heart rate, temperature, oxygen saturation level and many other symptoms. Covid-19 undergoes different stages of infection. The first stage is mostly asymptomatic. The second stage includes symptoms like fever, cold, cough, and throat infection. Third is the stage where is spread to other body parts. The final stage is the development of immunity power and removal of the traits of virus to bring up a healthy body. The basic symptoms of the virus if correctly identified can reduce the spread of the disease.  Hence, social distancing and health indicators such as body temperature, oxygen saturation level and pulse rate are the potential methods to determine and prevent the symptoms of novel coronavirus.

“IoT based COVID-19 health tracker” is a health tracking device that helps incomplete Corona prevention with its features like social distancing detection, health monitoring system and so on. An automatic social distancing system is created, which helps the individual to maintain a safe distance from others. This system helps to maintain distance between people and keep oneself in a safe environment. It is a mandatory protocol to be followed, as not everyone will know whether the other person is infected. Social distancing means any measures taken to increase physical space between people to slow or prevent the spread of the virus. Maintaining a distance of at least one meter from the other person will help in lessening the spread of Covid-19. The occurrence of Covid-19 has led to the exploration of various techniques to mitigate the growth of the disease. These include the detection of the region at risk, tracking the location of workers, tracing contacts, identification of spreaders, tracking Covid-19 symptoms and others. A device which can automatically remind people of maintaining a particular distance from the surrounding people will accomplish the current SOP to a better extent. An IoT based monitoring system is embedded in our device to measure different vital symptoms shown by the virus, to help individuals quarantine. 

 The proposed IoT based health tracking system helps in maintaining social distance as well as monitor the symptoms of Covid-19 infected patients and this ensures that the patient takes the medications. IoT based healthcare devices, data access and wearable technology help people to take precautionary measures or to get better treatment. In domains such as industrial processing, public safety, environmental monitoring, agriculture, medical and health care, smart grid, smart homes and buildings, smart mobility, etc. IoT based health monitoring is growing worldwide at a faster rate.
