Corruption in India (what effects have this had on people?)

There is a very strong relationship between India and corruption. In India, there is no need to put much effort into seeing any manipulation with your own eyes, it comes headily in front of you.

In this article, I’ll tell you what I’ve seen with my own eyes. So let’s get started.

Different states have dissimilar amounts of corruption. The smaller the city, the more alternation there is. I’m from a small town in Bihar (a state of India). Here I get more anger at the municipal corporation. There is no machinery to do garbage collection, and recycling here, so they throw all the waste of the town on the side of some roads. People who live near that filth are at a high risk of disease, and passing through there, exposes you to a foul stench. It is not that the central government does not give them the funds for this, but they fraudulently obtain the funds.

The other thing here which annoys me is the public toilets. They have made facilities here, but they have never been cleaned, so no one wants to go inside the toilet, because of the bad smells and scats. So, we can say that making toilets here is a waste of money.

I’m also very well aware of the education system in this city. More than half of the colleges here do not run classes. Any ignorant person can also get a degree from one of these colleges. You just have to get admission here and give the exam. Passing the graduation exam is like a kid’s game here. Students are allowed to bring mobile phones into the examination hall. They write all the answers by googling them. And you’ll definitely find one such person who has come to give an exam instead of other students.

The next thing I’ll tell you about is the government hospital. Every district has government, based hospitals. According to the rules of the central government, the treatment here is very cheap, even poor people can afford it. So many professional doctors are hired here to treat people, but they commit fraud. People never find these doctors in government hospitals, because they have their own private clinic, where they charge a lot of money for the treatment of people.

Coming to the next point, I also saw the contractors here doing a big scam. A new road was built here two years ago, but today the path has got big potholes and is completely spoiled.

The police here do not come into action until a big incident happens with the people. Most of the time, they avoid helping the public. Some people are not afraid to commit petty crimes here, because of the attitude of the police departments. Let me tell you about an incident. One day, near my house, my cousin's uncle had a fight with a boy. That guy has already attempted a lot of crimes. He had a knife and a gun, but due to the large number of us, he could not do anything. We reached the police station to complain about it. They sent us back saying nothing has happened to you yet, but come when something happens. After that day, the image of policemen in my mind was changed.

Sometimes people have to bear the consequences of corruption. Many such incidents come to my mind. You are aware of government school policy that a midday meal is provided to the children. But it has happened many times, that children have died because of meals. You should know that in July 2013, twenty-three students died because of food poisoning, and many more became ill.

Another incident I remember more was the "Bhopal gas tragedy." About 10,000 people were killed by a gas leakage from a "Union Carbide India Limited" pesticide plant in Bhopal. There were 500,000 people affected by methyl thiocyanate gas. It was a very scary incident. People were running here and there on the streets to save their lives. Many lost their eyes because of that poisonous gas. And the influence can still be seen there. All these things happened due to the negligence of the government and company.

The public becomes the target of corruption here, and the consequences of this are suffered by the people of the lower strata. I am hopeful that the situation will improve in the future.
