A 40-year-old man who returned from China two days ago tested positive for COVID-19 after which he was isolated at his home here, Chief Medical Officer Arun Srivastava said on Sunday.
His sample will be sent to Lucknow for genome sequencing, he said.
"The man has been isolated at home and health teams have been asked to conduct tests on his family members and those who came in contact with him," Srivastava added.
The man returned to Agra from China via Delhi on December 23, after which he was tested in a private laboratory. He added that the report was positive for Covid.
This is the first Covid-positive case in the region that has been detected since November 25, officials said.

With the increase in the number of Covid cases in some countries including China, the Center has strengthened anti-coronavirus measures.
The Center announced that the RT-PCR test will become mandatory for travellers from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand and asked states to conduct a mock exercise on December 27 to ensure that health facilities are ready, including medical oxygen production facilities.
At the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Akbar's Tomb, the health authorities in Agra started screening and gathering samples from foreign visitors.
Additionally, samples are being taken at the Inter Bus Terminal (ISBT), the Agra railway station, and the airport, according to officials.
"Sample collection has been started with a priority at Sarojani Naidu Medical College, District Hospital, and Primary and Community Health Centers in rural Agra. Cold, cough, and fever symptoms can be treated at health centres using the Covid test, the CMO stated.
"Residents are encouraged to wear masks and keep social distance in public spaces," Srivastava continued. To prevent the infection, they have been instructed to use hand sanitizer and adhere to Covid recommendations.
Passengers arriving in India from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand are now required to take the RT-PCR test, and the Center has asked the states to hold a mock drill on December 27 to check the readiness of medical facilities, including medical oxygen generation plants, according to PTI.
The health department in Agra, on the other hand, has started screening and collecting samples from foreign visitors who come to see the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort, and Akbar's Tomb.
District Health Information Officer for Agra, Anil Satsangi, stated, "To stop the sickness from spreading, the health department has already begun conducting tests. The checks are now required for all visitors as the alert is active."
Additionally, samples are being gathered at the Agra train station and airport.
Due to its "zero-Covid policy," which requires authorities to close off neighbourhoods or seal off apartment buildings whenever a resident tests positive, the expert claimed that China is seeing an increase in cases.
Precautions :
