In the coffee production, raw fruit of coffee plant is converted into the finished coffee, actually the pulp is removed and the seeds which leave behind are then dried. From those green beans or seeds caffeine is extracted. The most common extraction process which has been used since long is the Carbon dioxide extraction in which beans are made in contact with carbon dioxide which removes 97% caffeine from coffee beans. The caffeine is then recovered from carbon dioxide by using different carbon absorption systems. The extracted caffeine is then roasted into three forms, light, medium and dark roasting,Which is then sold out in these three forms and is used at homes. Some people also buy decaffeinated coffee which is made my rinsing coffee beans in chemical solvents and the process is repeated untill the caffeine is removed. So decaffeinated coffee contains less caffeine than the regular coffee.some people buy the coffee in green beans form and roast it at home. Some of the good effects of coffee are,
- It is so high in antioxidants and reduces the risk of many diseases including cancer.
- Coffee drinkers have lower risk of depression and diabetes.
- It acts as a stimulant for our brain functioning, removes our tiredness and makes us feel more alert.
- Boosts our metabolism.
- Studies have proved that coffee drinkers live longer as compared to non coffeee drinkers.
With many good effects, few bad effects of coffee are,
- If coffee is taken in excess it can increase the risk of many diseases like digestive issues, muscle breakdown, high blood pressure, rapid heart rate.So its limited use is always suggested.
- It can disrupt sleep and can cause anxiety.
- Its most common drawback is ,its is addictive.
If we want to maximize our health benefits then we should avoid adding alot of sugar in our coffee. When the caffeine content is considered then average cup contains 90 to 100mg of caffeine. The main component which gives flavour and taste to coffee is chlorogenic acid, which is also responsible for its bitterness.
