🤩🤩🤩🤩 Clubhouse seemingly rolled out a new Backchannel feature briefly, which would allow users to chat via text messages. The Clubhouse is known for its audio chat rooms, and this text feature looks to be an addition to the core functionality. 🥳🥳This was revealed via a notification that users took screenshots of but not made available yet. This comes at a time where the competition for live audio rooms is heating up. After Twitter launched Spaces, Facebook introduced Live Audio Rooms recently, and Spotify introduced Greenroom.

Several Clubhouse users on Twitter shared screenshots and videos of the new Backchannel feature in Clubhouse. It allowed for all participants in a room to chat via text, in addition to the live audio chat. Users got notifications from Clubhouse saying that Backchannel had been enabled, and a new arrow button showed up in the hallway. However, the Backchannel feature didn't seem to work for users and isn't visible on the app.

We do not comment on possible features" Facebook's answer to Clubhouse – Live Audio Rooms – started to roll out to US users just a day ago. The social media giant says it allows public figures with verified accounts to begin to live audio rooms and invite anyone else to speak. A handful of podcasts will be available to people in the US at first, and the company plans to add more down the line. Spotify Greenroom was also launched last week, allowing users to join live discussions or host their own.

The Clubhouse is an invitation-only social media app for iOS and Android where users can communicate in voice chat rooms that accommodate groups of thousands of people. The audio-only app hosts live discussions, with opportunities to participate through speaking and listening.

The app was first introduced to iOS by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth of Alpha Exploration Co. in March 2020, with a beta launch for Android in May 2021. The Clubhouse has stated it remains invite-only to ensure that their team can manage the growth of their user base and continues refining the app to support a larger audience.[6] Clubhouse plans to extend its accessibility to the public in the future and launch the full Android version in 2021.[6][7]

🤩🤩🤩🤩Conversations are prohibited bClubhouse's's guidelines from being recorded, transcribed, reproduced, or shared without explicit permission. This has been a source of controversy because bullying, harassment, and racism have occurred on the app.[8] Additionally, Clubhouse has been criticized for its inherent privacy issues.[9] Countries such as Oman, Jordan, and China, and Iran have blocked access to the app or completely banned its use.[10][11][12]
