Canadian TikTok star Megha Thakur passes away at 21 How shocking!

The news of her “sudden and unexpected demise” was confirmed by her parents via her Instagram handle.

In the heartfelt post, her parents wrote, “It is with heavy hearts we announce the light of our life, our kind, caring, and beautiful daughter, Megha Thakur, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on November 24, 2022, in the early morning hours. She was a confident and independent young woman. She will be dearly missed. She loved her fans and would have wanted you to know of her passing. At this time, we request your blessings for her. Your thoughts and prayers will be with her in her onward journey.”

She had  suffered from an anxiety-induced heart attack just four months before her 'unexpected' death on November 24, aged 21.

The body positive TikTok star often posts videos about how to best foster ones self-confidence and started posting to the platform in 2019. On her Instagram Thakur also spoke of her mental health in years previous revealing that she has had suicidal thoughts in the past. 

One of her hundreds-of-thousands of followers commented 'omg a heart attack? I really hope you're ok.' 

 

'Thank you, I've been taking the time for my mental and physical health,' Thakur responded. 'Love y'all so much for still being here.'

 

In the short 56 second clip, Thakur brushes over her anxiety-induced heart attack to deliver some sage advice about how to believe in oneself.

 

Paying homage to Miley Cyrus, Thakur starts by saying her inspiration for the outfit she is wearing comes from the Hannah Montana episode 'Sleepwalk This Way.'

 

'This is today's outfit inspiration because old Disney brings me comfort,' Thakur says pointing to a picture of a clip from the episode which pops up on screen.

 

 

In a post to her TikTok, she recorded herself getting ready for an event telling her 931,000 followers that she always like to wear something that makes her 'stand out.'

While the predominantly uplifting video talks to body image and how she hopes to inspire confidence in others, Thakur started by revealing that the young star had been dealing with anxiety.

'I have really bad anxiety, which turned into stress, which turned into a heart attack. So, I've been dealing with that,' she explained.

Her cause of death has not yet been confirmed

 

The beloved influencer from Ontario, Canada, passed away in the early morning hours of November 24, her parents confirmed in an Instagram post.

 

Thakur was well known for supporting body positivity and had over 930k followers on TikTok. She regularly posted dance videos to social media. She lived in Brampton, Ontario in Canada.

She frequently discussed the importance of having diverse body types reflected in the media as well as the importance of accepting one’s body type. She has a devoted following of followers who looked up to her for her dancing prowess and her compassionate ideas on upholding body positivity. Many of her followers posted condolences on social media for the influencer.

A Twitter user wrote, “Rest in peace Megha Thakur, you powerful and amazing soul”.

According to sources, at the age of just one, her parents moved to Canada. In 2019, she enrolled at Western University after graduating from Mayfield Secondary School. Soon after enrolling in the college, she debuted on TikTok.

She is a body positivity influencer who also shared videos of her dancing and comedy, enjoyed a following of over 9 lakh on TikTok and over 1 lakh on Instagram.
