TOP 5 TENNIS RECORDS THAT CAN NEVER BE BROKEN !

With Novak Djokovic winning the Wimbledon 2021, it seems there is no record that he would not break. The players like Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Serena Williams, Pete Sampras, Bjorn Borg, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and many more have shown the world a great player achieve through their game. Still, not a lot of them are there on the list of making or breaking records. Tennis has seen great records being made and even greater plays to break those records, but some records have stood the time and great players. Here are a few records that are almost impossible to break:

#5. 8 consecutive finals in the U.S. Open [1982-1989] - Ivan Lendl

Getting into the finals of the U.S. Open is already applause-worthy being one of the toughest turf [Hard turf] to compete on, but reaching to the finals 8 times that too continuously is just a 'master class.' Ivan Lendl, this record has been chased by many but in vain. Roger Federer was able to make it to six straight U.S. Open Finals during his golden run. Ivan Lendl won 8 singles grand slam titles in his career and retired in 1994 at 34.

#4. 5 Wimbledon titles and 6 French Open wins before the age of 25 - Bjorn Borg

Also referred to as the king of European titles of his time, Bjorn Borg achieved 5 Wimbledon and 6 Frech Open titles before he was even 25 years of age. These wins mark the expertness of Borg on both clay and grass courts. Fans of Borg argue that, had he been playing in this era, he would have been equally good if not better in the other two Grand Slams that are played on hard court. At the age of 26, Bjorn Borg hung his shoes, saying tennis was no longer fun". Had he not retired so early, he would have been a potential candidate to break one of these records!

#3. 7 Wimbledon titles in 8 years [1993-2000] - Pete Sampras

One of the game legends, Pete Sampras, won 7 Wimbledon titles in 8 years from 1993-2000. The game that Sampras played on Grass court was immaculate; although he dominated the sets when lagging, he had the knack of getting back with some great play. Also known as 'Pistol Pete,' Sampras won grand slams 14 titles in his career, dominating his era until a young Swiss player rose to his heights. Pete Sampras retired in the year 2002 at the age of 32.

# 2. 13 French Grand Slams - Rafael Nadal

It would not be wrong to say that Rafael Nadal's trophy cabinet is the second home to the French Open's Musketeer Cup; after all, the Spanish bull has 13 of them. Rafael Nadal won his first French Open title when he was 19 years old. Roland Garros demands a different level of athleticism and agility, and Rafael Nadal has shown that he is "the king of clay" with nearly a decade of brutal dominance over Paris and then adding a few more titles to his name, most recent being the 2020 French open won by Nadal at the age of 34! No doubt Nadal is referred amongst the top three players to have ever played the game of tennis.

#1. Reaching 18 out of 19 major finals between [2005-2010] - Roger Federer

A tennis records list cannot be completed without mentioning the name Roger Federer. Arguably the greatest player to have ever played the sport of tennis has many records to his name, such as being in the most Grand Slam finals 31 and winning 20 of them. But this particular record is unbreakable, reaching 18 out of 19 major finals missing only the 2008 Australian Open. His 8 Wimbledon titles appropriately back the dominance shown by roger Federer on the grass court. It is the genius of Roger Federer's game that he is still playing at 39!

-MOST ACES IN A SINGLE SEASON- Goran Ivanisevic {1996 - 1466 aces}

1466 aces, he must have been a nightmare for his opponents. Second, on this list stands Ivo Karlovic with 1318 aces in the year 2007. And there is little hope that this record will ever be broken, although we have our fingers crossed.

-MOST INDIVIDUAL WTA TITLES- Martina Navratilova {167 titles}

167 titles! It is almost impossible even to imagine that a player could do that, but this is what Martina Navratilova made all her career. Second to her is Serena Williams, with 74 titles to her name but still going strong, although it's doubtful that she would get even near 167 titles.

-MOST CONSECUTIVE MATCH WINS- Martina Navratilova {74 matches}

Again the legend Martina Navratilova, in 1984 she won 74 matches one after another, she was like a machine. Helena Sukova halted her run in the Australian Open.

-MOST RACQUETS BROKEN IN ONE SEASON- Marat Safin {48 racquets; year-1999}

Oh, he must be livid! The year 1999 was dreaded by most racquets of the world, as Marat Safin was on a roll to destroy every racquet that came in his vicinity. one can say that the record of destroying 48 racquets would not be broken in a long time.

Tennis is a brutal game of power, stamina, exhaustion, intelligence, endurance, class, perseverance, smartness... and it goes on and on and on. It tests your character, patience, quick decision-making ability, and grit. Only the best can make it through, and those are the players that create and break these records.
