"Bringing Back Our Identity: What Will It Take to Restore J&K’s Statehood?"

Jammu and Kashmir was once a full-fledged state with its own identity, pride, and rights. But in August 2019, everything changed. The special status under Article 370 was removed, and J&K was turned into a Union Territory. For many people, this was not just a legal change, it felt like a loss of dignity and voice.

Since then, people across J&K have been asking for one thing: the return of statehood. But what will it actually take to make that happen?

First of all, there needs to be unity and agreement among political leaders, both in Kashmir and in Delhi. This is not about politics or elections. It’s about doing what’s right for the people and keeping the promises that were once made to them.

Second, trust must be rebuilt. People in J&K need to feel heard and respected again. That means lifting unnecessary restrictions, allowing people to speak freely, and starting honest conversations with everyone, including the youth.

Third, the people must continue to raise their voices in a peaceful way. Violence will only delay the dream of statehood. But if the movement stays strong, united, and non-violent, it will gain respect across the country.

Fourth, J&K needs jobs, development, and opportunities for its youth. When people have hope and stability in their lives, it builds peace and trust. Any plan for restoring statehood must also include a clear plan for improving the economy and daily life.

Finally, we need honest and brave leadership, leaders who speak the truth, who care about people more than power, and who are willing to work hard to bring back the rights and respect of Jammu and Kashmir.

Bringing back statehood is not a gift, it’s about correcting a wrong. It’s about giving people back their identity, their pride, and their place in the world. J&K has always been known for its culture, beauty, and strength. Its people deserve more than just promises, they deserve action.

The path ahead may not be easy, but with unity, truth, and patience, the day will come when Jammu and Kashmir stands tall again, as a proud and dignified state of India.
