In Indonesia, Sumatra, Java, and Madura Island are the most prevalent places to raise it. This bird is used in ceremonies before important occasions in many civilizations. This chicken is entirely black, including its skin, feathers, and internal organs. Even the Ayam Cemani's blood is a darker scarlet than usual. Unfortunately, as the bird gains popularity, many breeders consciously attempt to misrepresent hybrid chickens as purebred. The Ayam Cemani is a middling breed that may be raised for both meat and eggs. The eggs are cream-colored, average in size, and then the process is repeated. Because of this, Ayam Cemani hens only produce about 80 eggs annually. It produces average amounts of meat and weighs four to six pounds. It also has long, featherless legs with sharp spurs.

Why are certain chicken species all black?
There are a number of explanations for why you might encounter a black chicken. The majority are related to a breed's genetic colour. There are some of these chickens that are completely black, from their feet to their faces and even their insides, while the majority of them merely have beautiful, luxuriant black feathers on the outside. Domestic hens that have the mutation known as fibro melanosis manifest it as an abnormal buildup of melanin in their tissues. Every organ and tissue of the chicken, including the tongue, eyes, and even the heart, can be used to demonstrate this. However, most chickens will only have a small amount of black pigmentation. Black chicken breeds that are inherently melanotic also exist. This indicates that they produce more pigment in their skin or feathers as a result of genetic differences. You might observe this in one particular flock member or in a group that was bred from the same parents
