What is Quantum Metrology and the Role of Quantum Entanglement

Quantum metrology is one of the emerging areas of quantum technologies and quantum information. Quantum metrology uses the resources of quantum mechanics for precision measurements. Since classical metrology is limited by the so-called standard quantum limit and therefore to enhance the precision of measurements scientists have been using one of the counter-intuitive concepts of quantum mechanics known as quantum entanglment. This short article will summarize and review quantum entanglement and its applications towards quantum metrology.
