To edit a previous reconciliation in QuickBooks Desktop, you must officially "undo" the reconciliation rather than just changing transactions. Start by going to the Banking menu and selecting Reconcile. Click Locate Discrepancies and then View Previous Reconciliation to identify the period. Return to the main window and click Undo Last Reconciliation. This will mark all previously cleared transactions as uncleared, allowing you to edit or correct them in the account register. Once your corrections are made, you must re-reconcile the account using the original bank statement to ensure your books are accurate and the beginning balance for the next period is correct. Note that you can typically only undo the most recent reconciliation.
