Serious coffee enthusiasts would never settle for anything less than grinding their own beans at home. Grinding beans takes a little more time, but as any expert will tell you, the work is well worth it. This is due to the fact that coffee beans, like any other food product, oxidize when exposed to oxygen. Because ground beans have a significantly bigger relative surface area than unground beans and no outer layer of protection, they suffer from this impact even more.
