There are several interesting things about Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea.One interesting aspect of Kim Jong Un is his background and rise to power. He is the son of Kim Jong Il, who ruled North Korea from 1994 until his death in 2011, and the grandson of Kim Il Sung, the founder of North Korea and its first leader. Kim Jong Un was not originally expected to succeed his father as leader, but after his older brother fell out of favor, he was named as his father's successor. Kim Jong Un assumed power after his father's death in 2011 and has ruled North Korea since then.
