The term plagiarism has been defined in many ways in an attempt to portray it as a legal problem and other negative aspects of the word. However, this definition is misleading since plagiarism can be defined differently by every person. It seems that plagiarism comes from different angles. Scholars like Thomas L. Hanchett define it as a copy that is similar to the original but without sufficient evidence showing that the author has used the source (Hanchett 13). Many critics like John J. Stinson suggest that plagiarism is not a crime since most people plagiarize without thinking about its consequences. Moreover, plagiarized work might get rejected due to poor quality (Denny 48). This paper seeks to explore how to avoid plagiarism in the academic world
